I wanted to pass along to you a recurring crime that you may want to be careful of…

For the 3rd time, my car has been prowled without any sign of forced entry. I have reason to suspect a particular brand, but I pause to mention it to avoid adding risk to others. I am not versed in the ways criminals can access transmitters of car fobs but would like your thoughts, suggestions and comments. The intrusion looks to be for personal data and not property. They will leave the car in an undisturbed state from the outside. I generally leave nothing in the car and often leave my little compartments open for them to see. The only sign of prowling is inside the car. I am in the Admiral area but the problem is most likely universal. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Smart of you to leave nothing in the car — sorry they are prowling around! You might try something like this — it’s meant to prevent anybody from grabbing your key fob signal from outside your house — I got mine on Amazon: “Silent Pocket KEY FOB GUARD Protector For Wireless Car Keys – RFID Blocking Faraday Cage”

OK. I’ll check it out. Didn’t know it was a “thing”. I’m assuming it grabs the transmission as the fob is activated and the fob isn’t constantly transmitting, so, they have to watch you using your fob… Again, thanks!

Just looked. Wow. It’s a bit alarming they tell some details in the ad. I now understand it doesn’t require my action. 😒
