I always bring my pooch to Magnuson off leash dog park. It’s always crowded, but I’ve seen people get in the water with their masters… I mean dogs.

I’m with PDieter. Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island is the best. If you head over there, know that their dog park is under construction. We went last weekend to take our dog there and we could still get into beach for the dogs, but I don’t know how long that will last. Magnuson is okay too, but it’s always too crowded for my liking.

thanks for the suggestions! i was thinking of somewhere more private. my dog likes the dogparks but sometimes gets picked on!…. he was the german shepard that was pinned on his back by a shitzu!

I have to second Mercer Island dog park! It’s not usually crowded at all, and is only just a few minutes from I-5. It isn’t fully fenced though. Also there’s a dog park up in Edmonds on the water that is fun, but a bit more rocky.

Are you aware of local canine hydrotherapy warm water pools, which can be rented by the half hour or hour? You can work with a canine therapist or on your own.

I have met Cindy Horsfall, founder of the Association of Canine Water Therapy, and she worked with one of my dogs. I found her to be remarkably gifted, and my dog loved swimming with her!

You can find a directory of warm water pools here:

I *think* I researched that Wellsprings is in West Seattle, but I have not contacted them or visited the pool, and they don’t list an address on their website. http://www.wellspringsk9.com/
