Newer to area, do a fair amount of DYI on house and starting here…where is the “in place” for locals, ideally with reasonable delivery? My experience to date is both of the local “orange boxes” have deplorable wood quality and Alki Lumber’s lack of a mill shop and Saturday hours make it hard to overcome the high prices. Was looking maybe at Compton’s? And is “IsGood” workshop a good alternative for millshop?
Dunn Lumber. They don’t have a West Seattle location, but they do have a website. They have a lot of FSC/green options, and best of all – they deliver anything, anywhere for $20.
Compton Lumber is the best choice for all of my lumber needs. They have friendly staff, a huge indoor warehouse, a custom door shop and a shop in the back that can cut your material to your specs. I have been shopping there for years. Plus they are just down the hill from West Seattle.
