Unique pussy willow branches for flower arrangements. Cut and packaged in bunches of 5 stems. I’m wholesaling them to retail stores but will sell to WSB neighbors as well. A few bunches left.

PDieter, what does it take to grow these here?

Light, exposure, watering? Are they hardy?

I’ve always liked them, but never thought about being able to grow them in the yard.

I’m in the mood for spring…

Does anyone have a forsythia bush that I could clip some Forsythia shoots from? I love forcing the blooms indoors. Crab apple is good too. I thought most Crab Apple bloomed in February but I haven’t seen any this year.

Lots of crocus in bloom in my ‘hood.

    CM,

ours is a tree with a common name “french pussy willow”. Appears to be grafted. Grows 6 to 8 feet each year and is quite hardy. Full sun, good drainage (ours anyway) Can’t remember where we got it. The local florists really hadn’t seen anything like these stalks before and jumped on them. We’d been giving them away (probably took some to the dump too)until we noticed that the Metropolitan was moving lesser ones quite easily for what seemed a pretty penny.

I have a small pussy willow about 14-15 feet high and would not mind if someone wanted to lop off the top 3-5 feet. It would save me the trouble of trimming it! I think the branches would be saleable by a florist.

I am helping to prepare for the Nowruz celebration at Seattle City Hall on the afternoon of this coming Sunday, March 18, sponsored by the Seattle-isfahan Sister City Advocacy organization. Nowruz is the Persian celebration of the coming of spring and signs of spring are brought into people’s houses. We need to re-create traditional Nowruz scenes for the event and need to find pussywillow branches. Can anyone help? If so, call Fred Noland at 206-355-0242. Thanks.
