hopeyParticipantMy husband and I tried Thai Thai tonight. mellaw6565 is right, the place is a little run-down but the food is quite good!
We’ve also been to El Paisano a couple of times and enjoy it tremendously. They have a somewhat limited menu, but — as you might expect from a restaurant associated with a butcher shop — the meats are excellent. One of the top three best carne asada steaks I’ve ever had. They are on 15th just south of Roxbury, on the west side of the street.

They have just put a breakfast menu up and are now serving breakfast!!!!!
It was a fairly extensive selection. So, if someone gets down there for Desayuno, bring back a review to the forum!
I like El Paisano so very much. It is cozy. They have the most excellent cushy booths.
Agreeing with Hopey, their roasted chicken, the carne asada and pork are well above average.
The owners and servers are all good peeps.

mellaw6565MemberFor the record, we had been going to Bahn 88 for several weeks this summer until my gf got very bad food poisoning from one of their sandwiches 2 weeks ago. We haven’t been able to stomach going back in since, but I did have some very good meals there.
Point is that people can get sick at any restaurant at any time. Doesn’t mean they are bad restaurants.

kiridaParticipantI agree with mellaw6565. I got really bad food poisoning from Tamarind Tree in the International District a couple of years ago. They’re still popular so I’m sure other people didn’t suffer like I did.

FullTiltParticipantI had the County Health Inspector in the other day. She was going around to all the white center food shops for an educational visit. She mentioned that most of the time when some one calls them and complains of food poisoning, they look at the last place they eat. She explained that is much more difficult than that, most food poisonings take days to actually effect you, so it takes a bit more effort to track it down.
Not saying that Bahn88 was not the culprit, but she could of picked it up anywhere. That, and I think Banh88 is about the cleanest place I have ever seen kitchen wise, and the amount of business they have, the chances of old food are lower.

And remember, you can always check inspection records. Thai Thai looks pretty good.

mellaw6565MemberFT – she developed the symptoms approximately 6 hours after we ate. We ran in there just as they were closing and I could see that they were basically just using the last stock of the day to throw together our sandwiches.
Having traveled all over the world, and without further description of her symptoms, we’re positive that’s what it was. But again, it’s not that we won’t go back there, it will just take a while. They’re nice people and obvious that they work hard.
It’s the same with Thai Thai – Sam & his wife have lived in the High Point area for years, raised their daughter here and generally enjoy the community. Not to mention that if you get Sam talking about his childhood in Thailand – you’ll get some great stories! Having been in Chang Mai and Thailand, I can tell you that his food is less “americanized” than other thai places I’ve been.

Arbor Heights GuyMemberDatamuse: Regarding the food at White Center Pizza and Spaghetti house. We havent had anything we didnt like yet. I love the ravioli they serve, I ask for it without all the cheese on top, however, I do get the salad with grated cheese, love the salad. It’s not fancy, but it’s friendly and the food is good.
