jkboisonMemberWith all the talk about Full Tilt and White Center I realized I really do not know much about the
‘center’ that I live so close to. Has anyone tried Brewsky’s? Is it a restaurant? bar? family friendly? how’s the food?
Any other White Center family friendly restaurant recommendations??

FullTiltParticipantBrewskies is a bar. I hear it has decent food. I would try Bahn 88, El Paisanos, Salvadorian Bakery ( more than just pastries), and Pho White Center.

JimmyGMemberBrewsky’s is somewhat of a “problem” business in the area, don’t think I’d be taking the family there.

credmondParticipantBrewskies is akin to the Beacon Pub on Beacon Hill. Although it looks nice it’s still a dive bar. They are also next door to another dive bar. And folks were complaining recently that all the dive bars were closing – not quite!

flipjackParticipantSalvadorian Bakery is awesome the people are very friendly. Try the platter!

FullTiltParticipantBrewskis is just a bar. Mostly a sports bar. The owner is nice, and most of the cliental are too. Its just not a joint for kids.

Arbor Heights GuyMemberWe like White Center Pizza and Spaghetti House across from McClendons. Comfortable/Friendly.

datamuseParticipantI’ve been wondering about that pizza/pasta place for years…just been too comfortable going to Spiro’s and Stellar’s to change. How’s the food?

JiggersMemberWhat was that place down a little farther on Ambaum called?. Huckleberry’s?. Good homestyle food and homemade pie’s.

JenVMemberwe really love Viva Mexico across from the Albertsons. Excellent service, food and yummy margaritas. Kid friendly menu too- we’ve taken my 4 yo niece there with no problems.

RSMemberWow, at first I thought this thread title was a joke. I wouldn’t go in Brewksy’s if you paid me. Good suggestions from other folks though. I second the recommendation for Bahn 88!

JenVMemberRS- they have the BEST veggie pho on the planet! Seriously, I go there twice a week for it. It’s the only veggie pho w/out MSG and it’s just damn good. they know me when I call in my order- small veggie pho, extra spicy.

guidosmomMemberJenV – Brewsky’s has pho??? Are you serious? Is the broth really vegetarian? I have yet to find a good pho place with good vegetarian broth.

kiridaParticipantMy favorite kid-friendly restaurant in the area is Vatsana Thai Resturant in Westwood Village. They are super accomodating to kids and love playing with my two-year-old. And the food is fast and delicious.

FullTiltParticipantNO. Brewsky’s has $1.25 beers, but no pho. They were referring to Bahn 88
September 25, 2008 at 5:17 pm #628342
JenVMemberoops, sorry guidosmom. I was responding to RS talking about Bahn 88 Restaurant. :) You really have to try it.
September 25, 2008 at 5:33 pm #628343
guidosmomMemberlol. Ok. Thanks! I skipped over that post somehow. Thanks! I will try it for sure… I didn’t want to go to Brewsky’s. I used to go to an aquarium shop right by there, and was always a little afraid of the men standing outside staring.
September 25, 2008 at 5:41 pm #628344
RSMemberYeah, I need to go to Bahn 88 more often. I think it might be even closer to my house than FullTilt!
I must be the only person in the world who doesn’t like Vatsana. I’ve given them so many tries and every time I feel like the food is either too salty or just weirdly flavored.

mellaw6565MemberI can’t believe no one has mentioned Young’s for breakfast and lunch!! Very family friendly and the food is so so yummy! We often run into many of our neighbors there and it’s the kind of place that they remember you and what you order the next time you go in. Highly recommend it! They are not open for dinner and not open on Mondays.

datamuseParticipantI’ve been to Vatsana’s once and it was okay but not outstanding. I keep hearing that place across from Papa Murphy’s is good but they are never frickin’ open. Buddha Ruska doesn’t do it for me so for now I’m still going to Fremont for Thai food.
September 25, 2008 at 8:21 pm #628348
mellaw6565MemberData – Thai Thai is across from Papa Murphy’s in White Center if that’s what you’re talking about and his food is awesome! He’s from Chang Mai in Thailand – very authentic food. The owner’s name is Sam and he does take out as well. I highly recommend his restaurant.
September 25, 2008 at 8:30 pm #628349
datamuseParticipantThanks Mellaw6565, I will keep trying. I’ve been to Chiang Mai, beautiful place and would love to go back. Since that’s kind of expensive I’ll settle for the food… :)
September 26, 2008 at 1:16 am #628350
mellaw6565MemberData – he’s open for lunch and dinner M-Sa until 9 pm. Not open on Sunday’s. I highly recommend the chicken wrapped in pandan leaves for an appetizer (very unusual to find in a restaurant here) and his soups are da’bomb. I also like his papaya salad, his pad thai, and his green curry with chicken.
I know the place looks rough from the outside, but I think his food is way better than Buddha Ruska.

FranciParticipantWhere exactly is El Paisanos?
