Hello, We just got a bid for over $8,000 to add air conditioning to our 1,200 Sq Foot home. Blew me away. Is this average or does any one know of a quality air conditioning installer with reasonable rates?

Who was the contractor, I work in the commercial side of this business, I may be able to help.

What size unit? Was it a heat pump they were going to install? They are more expensive but more efficient and usually have a longer operation life.
    Are the installing new ductwork?
What Brand Unit? In my opinion Trane makes one of the best products out there.

I would get three different bids if I were you. And I would use a company that has good reviews, try Yelp. West Seattle Heating and Air have great reviews and are a small locally owned business.

Small air conditioner unit outside, not heat pump. No new duct work. I will give WS heating and air a call for a bid. Thank you.

Good luck, I agree that price was pretty high.
