Does anyone have thoughts on a good place for brunch?

Salty’s, I know, but would love more ideas. Needs to be a place that will fit up to about 8 or so?

We will be in the downtown area, so Seattle or West Settle ideas would be great.

    Thanks :0)

Palisades is great for a fancier brunch- it is over in Magnolia. JaK’s in WS is also good and should be able to accomodate a group of 8. Enjoy!

Christo’s on Alki has a good brunch and can definitly accomodate 8 people. If you’re downtown, I like someplace like Red Robin or Ivar’s for a larger crowd.

I wish I liked Endolyne Joe’s. Its location outside of the junction is great; the wait staff are mostly friendly; good place for families. We have been twice on Sunday mornings and the music was uncomfortably loud and not relaxing at all. I don’t need to be jazzed up Sunday mornings by anything other than java. And the food was only so-so. I keep holding out hope.

Skylark has most interesting food for Saturday and Sunday brunch — if you call, they’ll arrange tables for you — and, since Matthew has gone :-( the music isn’t nearly as loud. I would say it’s the UNPalisades — funky, friendly, and delicious.

I agree with Flowerpetal about Endolyne — last few times we’ve gone the food was most disappointing.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who hasn’t been totally impressed with breakfast at Endolyn. I’ll eat there, but I feel I can make a better breakfast myself.

I concur on Endolyne… it’s not that great and it’s overpriced. The last time I ate there we tried something off their rotating menu – I think it was “salute to the midwest” or something. Awful, awful, awful.

Jak’s has a great brunch, Blackbird too. And I actually ate a really good breakfast at Angelina’s. All of them can accommodate a group of 8.

i too concur with the endolyne comments. it’s sad too. it was so exciting when chow foods opened a place in our beloved west seattle, but it has turned out to be the weakest link in their chain. i go back once in a great while hoping for change and continue to be disappointed.

Not really local, but one of the best I have seen for a reasonable price, is the Paradise Inn lodge at Mt Rainier.

On the few hot summer weekends here, I like to drive up early and enjoy the cool air before sitting down to a couple of hours of family and good food.

Kind of a road trip but it it beats buying an air conditioner :)

It has been closed for renovations for quite a while (2 years?) but is supposed to reopen in May for the 08 season.

Agree about Endolyne. Went there as a reunion with old friends and was so embarrassed at how bad the overpriced food was. No one finished their dinner. Did thoroughly enjoy the waiter, but not enough to waste money their again.

If you’re going on a Sunday and want something special, Edgewater Inn has a nice brunch. And nice breakfast any day.

I agree. Endolyne is disappointing. It’s such a cool location that we still go there every once in a while (nice to get out of the Junction), but am always a little underwhelmed.

Blackbird and Skylark would be my recommendations. Blackbird beats them in food quality, but Skylark is more fun (and still good).

endolyne joe’s is what all the chow food chains are…consistent, but very uninspired. All the same they do a good job of cooking eggs. Here are top seattle brunches: (in no order) Eats Market cafe; Glo’s (cap hill); Campagne; and Lola is good too.

if we’re talking about disappointing places in great locations lets mention that so called bakery next to joe’s,

Really? I like the bakery. Its standard fare; not nouveau; but just what I like for that rare morning indulgence.

Glad to see so many people come out with their feelings about Endolyne Joes. I thought it was going to be an unpopular view.

I’ve also had excellent brunch at the Fish Club at the Marriott on the waterfront…

Eats is great – all around – food, waitstaff, owners, although small so you’d have to check ahead with the restaurant to see if they can accommodate a large group. There is Angelina’s weekend brunch, too which includes a good Crab Benedict. Angelina’s has plenty of room and experience serving large groups.

And I like the bakery by Endolyne Joe’s. Great place for classic baked breakfast goods.

Maximillian in the Market is also an excellent brunch venue and it overlooks the water. That’s my Sunday brunch restaurant of choice.

Not brunch by any measure but… I recently had breakfast at the Eagles Aerie on a Sunday. It’s a really good, inexpensive breakfast – $6 – and serves between 9:30am-11am. They offer eggs OE, OM, OH, or scrambled, and your choice of pancakes or hash browns with toast (at least that’s what was offered the morning I was there). You also get juice and a carafe of coffee. Entrance in the back.

Thanks everyone!! Great suggestions. I can’t wait to try all of them!! And the bakery by Endolyne’s is great! It’s the old fashioned neighborhood bakery that makes me feel like well,I’m in a neighborhood, not some ladeeda neighborhood.

    thanks again!

What do you guys think of Salty’s brunch? I’ve lived here 2 years and have never gone to Salty’s. Some friends want to go to brunch, and we usually go to Ivars Salmon House (awesome brunch) for those special occasions. Salty’s costs about $10 more per person than Salmon House and I’m wondering if it’s worth it. Any thoughts?

I like Salty’s – but only like once a year. It’s a lot of food, and I don’t like that your party always is having someone up – makes visiting hard.

We love eats market – and they will take reservations for that big of a party.

all I’m saying about the bakery is that it’s ok. The space is huge and could put out five times the amount baked goods and could even do breakfast. It’s dirty and looks like it was last decorated in the 70’s but not in a fun way. I’m not even going to start on the espresso or the offered art for sale.

Salty’s (like Endolyne) seems to have gone downhill in the past couple of years. At this point, we take out-of-town guests there strictly for the view which still can’t be beat.

As far as their brunch goes, if I pay that much for a meal, I want to be waited upon — hand and foot. :-)
