Liz, I am sorry to hear about this. I completely understand where you are coming from.

Just yesterday, I was honked at for slowing for a yellow light, while the driver behind me honked and veered around me in the other lane to run the then-red light. I was also boxed out by someone who attempted to pass me by speeding around me through a painted median to get around a traffic backup on westbound Lander, while I attempted to legally enter the turn lane (waiting until the legal opening, blinker on, etc).

Seattle is the worst driving I have experienced in the United States, tied with the Miami area (for different reasons). The driving I have experienced here is inattentive and aggressive, somehow at the same time, and I have experienced your feelings more than once after being on the road. I am looking to spend less time behind the wheel, but I know walking and biking more won’t keep me from experiencing these issues. I’m at a loss as what we can do as citizens except for improve our own driving, which only goes so far. We need enforcement in place for everyone. I have written to SPD (not sure who or the pathway, it was a few years ago), but received nothing back. I don’t know the inner workings of the SPD or how hiring and funding gets prioritized, but something needs to be done.
