Yet another accident

I witnessed yet another car accident at the intersection of 35th Ave SW and Barton. It's always the same scenario: a car is speeding south down 35th Ave SW and when the light turns yellow at the Barton intersection they try to run it, and hit the car turning west onto Barton.

The speed at which cars drive on 35th Ave SW is CRAZY. I have so many accidents, near misses and other scary stuff.

The intersection at 35th and Barton is really busy. There's a bus stop, people are turning west to go to the ferry or turning east to go to Westwood Village, there's Tony's market and now a 7/11.

    PLEASE SLOW DOWN!

I witnessed the same accident. The driver turning left punched the gas to try to make the turn before the oncoming car. Not very smart! Should have waited 3 seconds to avoid precipitating an accident. LEFT HAND TURNS ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS DRIVING MANEUVER YOU MAKE. Plan your errands on making right hand turns--you'll save time and have fewer accidents.

  3. There are plenty of people who drive I35 too fast.

But I've been driving it daily (usually a couple times a day) mostly on the Morgan to Fauntlaroy end for over a year and I can honestly state that overall people have slowed down to the vicinity of the speed limit. The photo trap seemed to help a lot. Probably time to bring it back and maybe move it south a bit.

Someone might try calling the police and suggesting such a thing.

  4. That intersection REALLY needs an "only" light.
