HomerParticipantIs it just me or are you also tired of seeing the same 4-9 ads on the right hand side of the main blog page as there are only 5-6 new articles a day? There’s no reason to scroll down lower so all those businesses paying for ad space are getting skipped over!
All because they just became a business now and wanted to pay. Or, they have been businesses for a while but now decide to pay to be a sponsor. Why should they be a mile down the list?
Dunno, I miss almost 80% of the sponsors and don’t want to but I will not scroll down through empty white space just to see all of them.
How about rotating them every day? Would increase visibility and make it more worth the businesses ad fee. Just a thought.

SueParticipantI don’t know if things have changed in terms of pricing, but when I looked into it, there were actually different prices depending on page position, with it being less for the lower ads.

HomerParticipantSue, I would doubt that “click” would pay a ton for their top spot and someone like Salty’s or a realtor wouldn’t pay enough to get up to that top spot.
It appears that it’s purely based on time of becoming a WSB sponsor but I could be wrong.
Want to see all the sponsors to keep it local but WSB should be fair to all sponsors and rotate through them for variety to the customer, us.

SueParticipantWell, the way it worked at the time I asked is that there were 3 different sections. From the top ad (Hotwire)down to where it says “West Seattle News 24/7” was section 1; from there to “West Seattle Community Groups” was section 2; below that was section 3. Each section paid a different price. But yes, I believe that within each section the ads are first come, first served. You could always click on the “sponsors” tab and see everyone if so inclined. I know the WSB staff doesn’t always get a chance to read here on the forum, but it’s a valid suggestion, and you might try emailing them about it. I know they’re in the middle of getting ready to revamp things, and perhaps that is in the works.

JanSParticipantand, frankly, we could talk about it here until the cows come home…but, Homer, maybe a “suggestion” email to the editors would be better than just hashing it out here. Make a suggestion or two..maybe it might make a difference. Ya never know until you try…

pattileaParticipantI personally think Camp Crockett SHOULD always be on TOP, just my two cents!

HomerParticipantHmmm…well, I thought I did suggest a possible solution in my first post. Anyway, I wanted to gauge other people’s responses first as if no one else cared about staring at the same 8-10 sponsors every time, then why bother the editors.
Also, they look around these forums quite a bit and respond quite a bit so figured one might see this too. Since there does seem to be some interest, I’ll now email with my original suggestion of rotating them.

SueParticipantHonestly, I don’t care one way or another. If I am looking for something specific in terms of services, I look at WSB sponsor lists. Otherwise, most of the time I read the blog on my phone and I don’t even see the ads. There seem to be no lack of ads, so I’m guessing the advertisers don’t mind the current arrangement. But certainly, I’d share your concerns with the editors.

HomerParticipantAgree, but instead of having to scroll through looking, I like the rotating idea so you can be pleasantly surprised when you see a business up there out of the blue!
