WSB Meet-up/ Bowling party?

  1. Putting the feelers out there - would everyone be interested in another meet up? I was thinking West Seattle Bowl would be a fun place to meet and that way the younger members and people with kids could come too. Plus, West Seattle Bowl is just generally a great place to be! I could show off my skills- skills that get me beat by my 4 1/2 year old niece on a regular basis...

The West Seattle Bowl has a full bar, a Chinese restaurant and also accepts pizza delivery. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! October 5th and 12th are the best dates. Weigh in with your opinion and let me know - I can get it set up with the alley as soon as I have a general headcount.

    Cheers!

Sounds lovely! I would probably watch the bowling instead of subjecting myself to lawsuits stemming from people getting hurt because they are laughing so hard at me that they get hurt.

Either day would be fun - and remember two things...1) it's a known fact that the more beer you drink, the better you bowl and 2) WSB (doh! WSB@WSB!) has bumpers :)

  6. I'm in!! Either day works for me and my dude. Can we dress as our favorite Big Lebowski character??
Thanks for getting the ball rolling! (bowling jokes never get old right?)

  7. Oooooh! Sounds fun!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  8. RS, that rug really tied the room together...

    Posted 3 years ago #
  9. I should be able to make either day. But, I'll likely join JoB in heckling.

I would normally claim poor bowling skills for backing out of throwing some gutter balls, but now I have the excuse of recouping physically from my hospital stay. ;)

Tomorrow, I plan to venture out on a bus ride to the Junction for the car show. Should be good for building up my stamina!

Ok, any group of ppl that know lines from The Big Lebowski...count me in! Don't bother asking Walter 'cause he doesn't roll on Shabbos!

  12. I think I'll dress up as a nihilist because then when I bowl reeeally badly I can say it's because I believe in nothing. Also works if someone tries to draw me into a political discussion. :)

I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, at least it's an ethos.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  13. I can't do the 12th, but I can do the 5th. I also won't be bowling, but would love to hang out.

  14. Mike, alert - the car show is Sunday.
Hope you can make it then! We're one of the co-sponsors. Gonna be a blast - TR

    Posted 3 years ago #
  15. I'm also one of those who will be in the heckling section...that, and having a few beers, and fries cooked in the egg roll oil - yummmmm...

My Sunday's are mostly free in October :)

    Posted 3 years ago #
  16. Thanks TR! I totally spaced out on which day it was! Gives me a day to recoup from my "physical therapy" this morning of making three trips down and back to the laundry room. Four flights of about seven steps each between landings, the final trip managing a bag of clean laundry and the (collapsed) walker. I could have asked for help, but am trying to do whatever I can for myself, as long as it doesn't put me in danger of fall or overdoing it considering my current status.

I also appreciated the heads up (again, missed that it is on Sunday) on the main Blog. I figured I'd still be in rehab at Riverton until after the show, and had put it out of my mind.

    See you there!

We now return you to the actual topic. ;)

  17. Aw, c'mon Jan!

Quit talking about the stuff I like that would be highly illegal on my new diet! ;)

  18. Now I can't get 'Dead Flowers' from Townes Van Zandt outta my mind.

Any chance to throw a heavy rolling object at passive objects....I'm there!

  19. sweet! it sounds like we have a lot of interest. I have an email out to the bowling alley to see how they can best accommodate us. I think I might just have to buy some new bowling shoes for the occasion!

Sounds like fun - haven't been bowling in ages. Count me (and I'm sure I can convince the others in the house to join) in for the 12th!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  24. I am in as well. I have my own ball and shoes...some how that did not improve my game any. I suppose practicing might have helped.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  25. hahah Zenguy - me too. I still suck at bowling, but I have a cool ball. I wasn't kidding when I said my 4 1/2 year old niece beats me on a regular basis.

So we've decided on a day- October 12th. What time? I am thinking 3ish. Does that work for everyone? Is there a better time for everyone?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  26. Sounds fun - we could probably do the 12th, but I will be returning from England and may be a bit jetlagged. Will be a good excuse for crappy bowling!

  27. So here's the dealio. I went online at WSBowl to make reservations - it's $300 to reserve 7 lanes for 2.5 hours. It looks like league play doesn't start until 6 pm, and from experience Sunday afternoons are pretty quiet there until then. we could just all show up and catch as catch can with procuring lanes for ourselves, or any one of us can go online and make the reservations for ourselves. It would be nice if we could all be in the same area, so if we do it individually we could come on here and let people know what lane they have reserved. Post here and let me know.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks JenV for organizing!! So do we have to reserve a lane? COnfused...

    Posted 3 years ago #
  29. It would probably be good to reserve lanes in advance. we definitely don't have to do it now, but maybe by next week. I was thinking we could have big teams, or we could cycle people in and out, etc. We should aim towards reserving lanes with automatic bumpers for the kids and bowling-impaired people. I think by next week we should be able to safely reserve enough lanes for all of us. right now Sunday the 12th is wide open.

  30. Count me in too on the 12th at 3pm.
I'll be the one in the wig, fake hand holding a white russian wearing a Cowichan Sweater.

  31. I just reserved lane 15

    from the confirmation email:
    Date: 10/12/2008
    Time: 3:00pm - 5:30pm
    Lane: 15

    Posted 3 years ago #
  32. ok, I reserved 16 & 17 - if anyone is late in getting a reservation they can pay me the day of and take one of these lanes. I am not actually that bad of a bowler that I require two lanes for safety. ;)

    Reservation
    Date: 10/12/2008
    Time: 3:00pm - 5:30pm
    Lane: 16-17

  33. I'm a party of 1, so if anyone wants to join me...Trick, TheHouse?

    Also, I didn't click on the auto-bumpers.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  34. Lane 18 confirmed.
Erik, Not sure you want to be behind my girl when she bowls ;)
Although passing a Jaeger shot 3 lanes away won't be a problem.

  35. "I'll be the one in the wig, fake hand holding a white russian wearing a Cowichan Sweater"

    Dang it Trick!

Now I need to figure out a whole new plan for how I'm going to show up! ;)

We used to bowl a lot (doesn't mean I was good). I'm just closing the book on an injury, but will buy someone a drink if I can throw a couple of frames in their lane as an experiment :) Depending on how much I hurt the next day, it will tell me I can do more bowling. Otherwise, I'll be content to be in the rooting section. Jaeger, Trick? You must be a REALLY good bowler!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  44. The Jeager thinks so, my score doesn't reflect that though :)

  46. Sorry I won't be able to join you - my husband is playing at C&P, same day and time, and it might be nice if I show up to support him. :) Next time!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  47. GHO - you can join in on our game- in fact, do it under my name so my average is improved, will ya? ;)
