  1. Anyone recommend a space for holding a 30th birthday party? One that doesn't cost $1000? Heh. I'm thinking a place with a bar and space for 25-30 people.

I, too, was going to say Full Tilt -- of course you could start there and mosey off to other establishments in the area. I'm planning to have my (quite higher number than 30) party there -- if I hustle pinball and pacman successfully, I'll be able to cover the cost for everyone. :-)

I know everyone rails against Endolyne, but they have a great back room and a large supply of adult beverages. You might talk to them about what you could arrange. They used to have movie nights there, which is how I know, so you could probably even use their setup to show, for example, videos of yourself before you got to be so old.

  4. Stellar Pizza in Georgetown. Great party space.

    oh, and happy b-day!

  5. Hehe, it isn't MY birthday. I'm only going to be 28 (which, according to the comedian Patton Oswalt is NOT a birthday). It is for my Tall Guy. I'm thinking of making it a surprise, but I can talk about it here because he is still convinced that WSB is a scary cult that we all belong to. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I have an email out to The Mission, they rent out the upstairs. I'll communicate with Endolyne and Ama Ama and maybe Stellar in Geortown, too. But I'd like to be as close to home as possible so that we can get completely blitzed, HA!

It so is. Sooner or later we are going to need an intervention and a 12 step.

I second Stellars for a party. They are very accommodating.

  7. well happy birthday Tall Guy, then! Oh, I forgot to mention- the Maharaja has a great big back room in the bar and they are VERY accommodating for drunken birthday parties as well. Talk to Don Bogie, and tell him Jen sent ya.

  8. Oooh, the Maha! I love it back there, and I LOVE THE FOOD. So does he, so that is a great idea. I'm sending out feelers all over the place!! I'm hungry just thinking about it.

Not in West Seattle, but my friend and i shared a space in the backroom of Twist last year for our b-days. There was no room charge, all we had to do was meet a $500 minimum which was pretty easy with the 40 or so people we had there. The only thing that we had to let people know to do was to order from our waitress not from the bar!

The West Seattle Eagles rents its hall for a very reasonable rate. The space has a bar, kitchen, dance floor, and will hold about 100 people. It also has a lot of parking. You can see pics on the website at westseattleeagles.org or call them at 938-4426.

  11. I hope seriously nobody thinks WSB is a scary cult. Or even "just a blog." It's West Seattle's only daily news source. (Plus discussion, of course.) I still run into the occasional person who hasn't heard of it or didn't check it out because they didn't know we do The News, so we appreciate everyone continuing to spread the word on that front. But enough about that. I wanted to say, depends on how soon your party is -- Full Tilt has officially applied for its beer/wine license, FYI.

  12. Great question.

It would be BYO but CAMP LONG rents cabins with fire pits, or you can rent the lodge. $40/night for a cabin. Cabin rentals end at the end of October, but the lodge is year round. They have brochures in the lodge, but I think all the info is here:

  13. Ann and I had our pre wedding party at Stella's. They were great. We had close to 100 folks and they took us on at the last minute.

Now for a shameless plug. We can and have had private parties at Full Tilt. Adults can have adult beverages if it is for a private function. Yes we have applied for a beer lic, that should take about another 20 days or so.

  14. I have no idea how much it was, but I went to a terrific 40th bday party at the Alki Bathhouse. It was perfect for a surprise because the victim just thought she was going for a walk on Alki.

  16. Hey audrey
What about West 5? Not sure if they have private parties, but its worth a shot, especially if it's not on a Friday or Saturday night.

And Patton Oswalt is right, 28 isn't a birthday!!
Saw him last weekend at the Moore. I was crying.

I know a guy who is having an upcoming b-day, and it sounds like a plan his GF would have for it. She said "tall guy" and this dude is like 6'9".

  20. hahaha....the Tall Guy is 6'8"...close :)

  21. Someone already mentioned Camp Long, it is unique. Special permission must be had from the Director of Operations, but it is possible to serve liquor. It's a great facility. I've attended at least two catered wedding receptions there in the past 5 years and everyone has enjoyed their rustic atmosphere. See: http://tinyurl.com/52h4fm

...have you ever thought of Blue Willow? I went there for lunch last week, and they rent our their facility for special events. They likely offer catering on-site as well. Might be worth looking into.
