ElizagraceParticipantIt baffles me how drivers will speed the wrong way down Andover (just before Delridge) to scoot into the little shop area.
I see it every day. I know waiting through the lights is a pain, but nothing compared to the disastrous situation they create.
I see at least one car per light do this! Nutso!

miwsParticipantThat behavior is one of my biggest pet peeves. Frustrating to hear that it’s occurring so frequently there, because even occasionally is bad enough.
Though maybe only a couple times that I can remember, over many years I’ve seen it happen on westbound Fauntleroy, approaching California, when a driver will whip around the raised lane divider separating the left turn pocket, and eastbound lane, to pull into Thriftway’s lot . Whenever I’m walking up the sidewalk to Thriftway, that is one of three points I check; right turn into Thriftway, from eastbound Fauntleroy, and watching for drivers flying out of the Thriftway lot, onto the sidewalk, only stopping if there is traffic on E/B Fauntleroy. I at least get a chuckle if there is an oil pan scrape.
Another place I used to notice was really bad, when I’d get out there maybe 3 or 4 times a year, was the Ballard Wendy’s on 15th.
There’s a very long, two lane, left turn pocket, from northbound 15th, to westbound Market St. It runs probably nearly 1 1/2 of a double city block.
It seemed like most every time I’d visit, I’d see a driver whip into the oncoming lane, to make a left turn onto the side street parallel, and just south of, Market. I had to keep a close eye when crossing that street, on my way from/to the bus.
In that scenario, the drivers engaging in the extremely dangerous behavior, travel a rather significant distance to make that turn.
I always wonder in these scenarios, besides pedestrian safety concerns, what happens if somebody ends up legally turning onto the street, in the proper direction, and they are now face to face without any way to get around each other?

ElizagraceParticipantEvery day I just hold my breath hoping that there isn’t a car that take the legal right onto Andover to find themselves face to face with the driver going the wrong way – especially since they go as fast as they can so they aren’t spending more time than they have to in the wrong direction.
So scary!
