I'm in desperate need of a new pair and Chubby and tubby is gone (where I found a great pair years ago). I've tried Big 5 with no luck and my feet are too small to wear men's. Any ideas? I would like non-steel toe preferably.
Thanks in advance!

I like Keen and Merrills, but not quite sure what you mean by "work" boot. Ankle high or mid calf high? I also have a pair of waterproof, LL Beans.
Leather, ankle high and suitable for construction job sites. Looking for a place to purchase. Danner makes one, but haven't found a place that stocks women.
Check out Whistle Workwear on 1st Ave S (right by the new ramp). They carry women's sizes; more so than other work stores. I've never been to the Army/Navy stores - they may carry women's sizes as well.
Blumenthal at at S. 216 and Pacific Highway South in Des Moines.
Stocks Danners in women's sizes.
Thanks!
Being a gal in construction/needing good solid work boots in amaller but rugged women's sizes, I just pulled off my Red Wing boots a bit ago. They've gone the distance to no end for years now. Love them and will check out everyone's referrals for local sources as I'm finally going to have to get new ones soon. They were a great investment.
You can still buy red wing work boots from the red wing store in red wing minnesota.
i don't know if they have a website...
smy - I'll check out the red wing if i can find them. Mine are Catolina's, but have no sole left. Super slick in the winter on the rooftop. They were a great boot.
oops - Carolina's, steel toed
The Red Wing store is in Kent on 68th Ave South.
Second the new workwear store on 1st Ave S. There's another one on 4th Ave S just north of Michigan on the west side of the street. And an Army/Navy supply next door to Sbux HQ on Lander St west of 1st Ave S.
Just in case you cant find the perfect pair here: Last pair my partner bought was at Stompers in San Francisco http://www.stompersboots.com/index.php They had a great selection of sizes, steel toe as an option in almost all styles, and way above and beyond customer service, including free shipping so we didn't have to take them on the plane.
We had them customized (big calves, small ankles and feet) at the cobbler in Admiral next to the Jack in the Box. He was fantastic and made the customizations look like part of the design. FABULOUS work and I recommend him wholeheartedly if you need a little bit of help making them fit just perfectly.
Good luck!
