   I was assaulted today at the 4th avenue Seattle COSTCO store, while waiting in the line for an available gas pump; sunday, NOV-15, approx 2:00pm-2:08pm.
   ME: Toyota Tundra, white with white canopy.

   Assaulter: 6'-3"+, caucasion, approx 230+ lbs, blue jeans, tennis shoes, Seahawk jersey and ball cap-hat. His wife accompanied him but she did not participate in the actual assault. She: 5'-8"+, med build, approx 135-145lbs, blue jeans, blonde hair shoulder length.
   HE violently opened my drivers truck door, startling me and assaulted me, causing a shoulder injury.

   if you witnessed this incident, please contact me via email, post or call Seattle Police officer T.Saewong, badge#6957, case#2009-399257, phone#206-386-1850 with any information.
   A Costco employee-gas attendant also witnessed and provided a statement to Seattle Police.

   just plain awful. were they in a car as well ? do you have description of their car?

   No, they had walked 2/10ths of a mile from the parking lot to the Costco gas area, he pursuing me according to witness in car 4 cars back in the gas line. No one observed where they parked and I was too rattled in my nerves and thinking.
   but they will find him as he's on security video.

   I'm so sorry this happened. Sounds truly scary. Had you had any contact with him(them) previously? What anger to walk that way just to assault someone.....wow...would be nice if there was some video of them going back to their car, and a license plate #. But I bet that's too much to ask :(

   What Happened??? Was this some random act? Was there any other contact or exchange while in Costco?

   no there were no previous exchanges with my assailant whatsoever; no words, glances, inappropriate gestures...nothing between us.

   the police report indicates, from a statement by the Costco gas attendant, that after his wife pulled her husband away from my vehicle she said: "his tires spun on the pavement, which startled me and being close to delivery of my baby, my husband went nuts".

   she was not in the crosswalk but standing on the sidewalk within the Costco parking lot, not on a public street. There was no intent on my part to startle her. My tire only spun briefly as I was trying to clear a parking lot intersection as another car almost hit me while that driver was on her cell phone.

   I did not deserve in any fashion to be pursued across the parking lot and ambushed in my own car by her husband violently jerking open my driver's door and physically assaulting me. I had to threaten to shoot him if he did not stop with the physcial violence. Having a concealed weapons permit, this was the closest I have ever come in 30 years to using my licensed & permitted handgun.

   One of the problems I see with costco is that, while I'm sure it's a fine store with a majority of its patrons wonderful people, the whole 'bulk buying' thing attracts a certain demographic that I don't normally see in the city. Or at least, in such high concentrations as at costco (or maybe ballgames). For discussion's sake we'll call them the "rootin tootin" demographic, and they seem to have a higher than average propensity for road (parking lot, whatever) rage than we normally observe in the population at large. I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. It's only too bad you weren't able to detain this person.

   Last Friday at Costco on 4th, I witnessed a man verbally assaulting a couple of people who he claimed took the parking spot he was waiting for. I was more than surprised at the words that came out of his mouth. I shook my head and thought people must be under such stress these days to be capable of spewing what he did . . .

    The demographic of an average costco member is educated and has a household income of 80k plus and that was from costco about 6 years ago in some training we did because we sell through them. I go into on average 3 costco members homes each work day and meet many lovely people maybe one in 50 is rude or demanding but for the most part educated normal reasonable people. But I will say this economy and our fast pace does add stress to most people.

    Not saying you're at fault, but sounds like road rage. May have cut off or been precieved without
    you knowing, no excuse for your attackers.

    Check with store about video, the whole place must be under camera's.

    Glad you didn't use you gun although you would have had every right to.
