Who has the best salad in West Seattle ?

  1. I have an out of town friend visiting this weekend - 2/12 - 2/14 and this individual has a lot of dietary restrictions. This individual has requested that they don't care where we go out to eat as long as they "can get a GOOD salad."
    .
I don't eat salad, so I thought I would solicit suggestions from some of the experienced foodies out there. Thank you.

I also love Elliott Bay Brewery's salads. Some are a bit cheese-heavy, though. And I'm still sad they no longer offer the brewery blues salad. :-(

Beef Salad at Buddha Ruska - charbroiled beef with a magical dressing. Slurp!

Gyro's salad at Olympia Pizza on Delridge.

  6. seared goat cheese salad at Elliott Bay Brewery is amazing - I am not of fan of beets, so I usually ask to leave them out. I also love the house italian salad at Talarico's - it is simple and good!

the caesar salad at talarico's is very nice. big leaves of romaine, thin shards of parmesan, tangy dressing. and i think they'll add chicken on request, but i could be confusing them with another restaurant. and it's a happy hour item.

their house salad is solid, but maybe not memorable.

and if i recall correctly, they also have a good blue cheese/iceburg wedge salad.

  8. I agree with redblack on Talarico's. For some reason their simple blue cheese wedge salad just hits the spot for me. It goes well with that huge "south side" slice and a couple of Stella's!

  9. another vote for EBB. I love their quinoa garbanzo salad; the salad has a little kick to it.

Circa! The steak salad is excellent and the chicken BBQ salad is really great too.

  11. I second the steak salad at Circa. Love it! Couldn't get into Circa on a weekend night recently though, because of the crowd, so decided to try The Highstrike Grill. I was pleasantly surprised at how good their steak salad was.

All the salads at Pegasus are good (I favor their Greek salad). Also, the Cobb salad st Bamboo is killer!

  17. Oh, the Greek salad at Kokora's is delicious. How could I forget that? Get it to go and head over to Beveridge for a drink.

CMP, I was just about to post the same thing! AlkiKMac's post reminded me. Really, any of the salads at Kokoras are wonderful: Greek salad, gyros salad, falafel salad, village salata... ooh, now I have a craving.

Oh, and one more thing about Circa. If you go there you can order their sweet potato fries (it's ok, you're having a salad)! Best.Fries.Ever.

  21. Dukes - Steak Salad ( includes a beautiful view of Alki )

    Pagliacci - Paggliacio Salad. ( Fast food/delivery option )

    Korokas - Greek Salad ( yum )

Now I am off to try the Circa - Steak Salad everyone is raving about.

Kokoras, I'm melting just thinking of the tasty salad goodness. The salad bar at Met Market has tasty ceasars (in my opinion the best). Celtic Swell has terrible salads.

  23. EBB's salads are delicious and unique.

Alki Cafe used to have some of the best seafood salads I've ever tasted, as well as a creative chicken-apple-walnut salad that would blow your mind. I haven't been there since the ownership change, though, so am not sure if they still have them. Does anyone else know?

  24. Blue Willow (lunch only) but they make very nice large plates of healthy greens.

I either get the Cobb with blue cheese dressing at EBB (ask them to go easy on the cheese) or the House Salad at Talarico's with blue cheese dressing. Husband loves Talarico's Caesar. Seem to recall Jak's Steak Salad being pretty yum.

I love EBB's Cobb, but I don't understand why they use bleu and Monterey jack cheeses on it, so I ask them to hold the jack. I like it with their house ranch dressing.

  28. When we have salad hankerings, we get the Chicken Curry Salad and the Cobb Salad from Charlestown Cafe. Tasty and gigantic

Yup. The Charlestown is often my go-to place for a Cobb (and buckwheat pancakes, I might add). Also, when highly motivated, I've driven down to the Huckleberry in Burien. Also gigantic.

But, ya' know, when I eat one of these gi-hugic salads, I don't eat anything else all day. However, I immediately go to the bakeries after. It's my own complex little game I play with myself to get those dessert rewards :]

  30. I agree with Pegasus and no one has mentioned La Rustica, one of the freshest, simple and best salads in town...add bread and you are done. Oh, yeah the oyster appetizer too.

  31. We like the dinner salad at Pegasus. I think it's standard iceberg lettuce but we really like the cheese. Next time gotta ask what kind of cheese they use, it's not cheddar, or mozzarella, I don't think... anyone know?

  32. Could it be mizithra (sp?), which is what is used in their "white" spaghetti?

or is it feta, which is used pretty ubiquitously in greek food?

btw, i just had another wedge salad at talarico's, you know, to confirm its awesomeness. and it was awesome. it has red onion, blue cheese, and bacon.

Curry chicken salad at the Charleston Cafe!!!

    Posted 1 year ago #
  35. re: the cheese on Pegasus salad, it's not chunky or crumbled like feta or mizithra(sp?) ;-)
It's shredded like mozzarella but not as dry or rubbery as I think mozzarella usually is. Maybe it's just the brand they use.

Fresh Bistro--lovely, light, melange of flavors in their salads. I've skipped an entree each time in favor of a salad and was not disappointed.

  38. Thanks to everyone who offered input We decided to give Elliott Bay a try, and we had a great time.
    .
Our guest was able to find an entree for their special dietary needs. The three of us thought the food was great!

My first dining experience at the Hightstrike... Steak Salad was excellent.... the rest of the menu...I can't say. The salad was a great combination of tastes and textures... blue cheese base with a sweet vinegar taste. They now serve breakfast.... but don't start until 9 AM.... umm maybe they want to revise that. Most of us are at work and the old biz breakfast meetings generally are over by 9....that gives the Chelan Cafe the edge.
