Anyone know a place in West Seattle that will air hockey games? Specifically the Red Wings game tonight at 7pm.

  3. Down with the Wings!

    Ahem..go Avs.

Might be able to catch it at Rocksport because it is on Vs (I don't think any places in West Seattle have the Center Ice package). Check with them, though. Of course, around here you'll be trumped by any scarf-wearing ninny who wants to watch a soccer game instead.

Carson.....You took the word sout of my mouth! Go Wings!! You might try The Corner Pocket. They used to play all the Hockey games. One of the Bartenders was a big Wings fan. Oh ya did I mention..... GO WINGS!!!! :)

    The Avs? Seriously? Go Sharks!

It's the competing Seattle sports I'm worried about so the Corner Pocket sounds promising. My best luck in Seattle has been in places where the bartender is a hockey fan, Wings or not. But yeah, Go Wings!

I am a happy Red Wings fan today! :) Did anyone find somewhere to watch it outside the home in West Seattle? Benbow couldn't get it.

  14. there are a few staunch wings fans up at Prost. Another triumphant step in the wings march to yet another cup was witnessed there last evening.

I ended up at the Shipwreck Tavern - after also trying the Benbow first. They not only turned on the Wings game for us but played the Vancouver/LA game on the other tv. Happy night all around. But if there are multiple Wings fans at Prost, I may have to check that out too.

  17. Go 'Yotes!

  18. Has West Seattle been infiltrated from Hockey Town Residents? You know, I'm still mad at their coach for leading the Canadians to gold over the US in the Olympics.

I'm with JWWS. I call on the Gods of Esposito, Orr, Neely, and Bourque to lead the Bruins to Lord Stanley's Cup.

  19. HMC Rich,

Yeah! We got a step closer last night - don't forget Cheevers, Sanderson and E.J. Go B's!

  20. Hockeytown is like Beantown - the teams that people think they need to like in order to gain some sort of sports street cred.

My 2nd favorite team is whoever is playing against Detroit. Once Phoenix finishes them off tonight, I'll be pulling for a 'Hawks/Bruins final.

I am a transplant from Detroit, MI (Redford Township)......I Love the Lions and Tigers and Red Wings(oh my!). Even if they suck. It makes it fun for everyone when you have die hard fans for apposing teams. I don't get into all the "politics" of sports. Heck, don't ask me to name a player! My cousin would be so ashamed! I know that a Blue Liner is a damn good beverage! It's an original hometown thing for me. Don't get me wrong.....I love the Seahawks and Mariners (when they're not playing the Tigers or Yankees) as well and I can name some of those players! I'm looking forward to a good game tonight! Go Wings!

  22. I'm with bsmomma - I'm a Boston native and I'll cheer all Boston teams regardless of their record. It's also nice to see some of the original NHL 7 doing well in playoffs; some expansion teams and new rules like 5 minute OT then shoot outs suck IMHO. Glad to see the playoffs are going with the old day rules of OT 'til someone scores!

  23. As an Avalanche fan, I am under a sort of biological compulsion to say bad things about the Red Wings. And to root for their demise. Always.

So with the Avs out it's "Go 'Yotes" for now, but I think I am a 'Hawks fan for the rest of this one.

And yes, the shootout is awful, as is the system of getting a point for an overtime loss. There's nothing better than a marathon, triple-OT playoff hockey game.

Detroit native here so Wings fan since birth. I think it was probably worked into my christening. I remember going to see the Dead Things at a half empty Joe Louis Arena and as a kid so I still don't take playoff games for granted.

Andykrist, looks like you and I are mortal enemies. ;)

  25. Bring on the haters. It's nothing other than jealousy!

Besides, how 'biological' can a Coloradan be required to hate the Wings unless you're under 15 years old? I'd say it's more likely to have been a learned bad behavior which should be easily overcome with an appreciation for great hockey tradition and a coney dog or two.

By the way, fellow relocated Michiganders, there is a bar in Seattle which has coney sauce and Koegels imported for a regular Motown Monday feast (plus Vernors cocktails!).

Anyhow, Go Wings! I was going to offer that Prost has been known to put the Wings on TV, but didn't know if that was coincidence or habit. Sounds like a good spot. May have to wander over tonight to catch some of the game.

  26. Yet another playoff triumph for the winged wheel! That means another coupla weeks of hockey.

    Go Wings!

  28. Go Sharks!!!

  29. Del Rey in Belltown has coneys and Vernors on Monday nights. They also play Detroit music all night. It's good stuff, especially when there's a hockey game to go with. Check it out if you get a chance.

bsmomma - another Redford girl in the 'hood! Thurston '79

odroku - I guess I need to give Del Rey another chance. Checked it out once 3-4 years ago but didn't seem my scene. Might be different on Detroit Mondays. Now thinking about a scotch and Vernors...hmmmmm

Caught the last 7 minutes of game 7 while waiting for my connection in Portland airport last night. Way to go Wings!!

  31. Hey there.

A friend of mine and fellow Michigander has been running Del Rey for just under a year. Their weekend brunch is terrific and Motown Mondays are a must for anyone who misses the ability to grab a couple of coneys. I haven't been there during night life business, but find it a nice atmosphere for my needs when I need them. Give it a shot, if only at Monday around dinner time for your Detroiter fix.

  32. Oh, and they've come up with a couple of different Vernors cocktails as well. We were talking about doing something with Boston Coolers one night, but I don't think they've gone that far...yet.
