The weather was gorgeous the last few days and I've been BBQ'n up a storm. Packing up a picnic and heading down to Lincoln Park is fun too but sometimes I'd just like to go out to a local eatery and get a great meal. I can only think of Cactus on Alki for outdoor seating and it gets kinda crazy down on the beach when the sun is out so I tend to avoid it.
Is there anywhere else in West Seattle that a guy and gal can enjoy a good hot meal, cold beverage and the sun at the same time?

Dukes on Alki, Salty's has a deck, and Cafe Revo has outdoor seating.
Shadowland has asked for an outdoor dining permit. There is outdoor summer dining at Porterhouse, Mission, and Angelina's, too...
Johnnyblegs: I know Alki gets crazy, but there's no better place for eating outdoors. I live there, I'm VERY partial. if you go West towards the Point, (across from Cactus and Sunfish), it's not quite as crazy.
• Bamboo has outdoor seating,
• Sunfish, outdoor seating also. When my kids come to visit we often get Sunfish to-go, then cross the street and eat at one of the tables, sit on one of the benches or even the bulkhead, and there's always the grass. The BEST!
• Pegasus Pizza - outdoor seating.
• Celtic Swell puts tables outside in the little vacant space to the left as you're facing the restaurant (only summer, though)
• Phoenecia has applied for outdoor seating, I think.
• Spuds, take your fish-in-chips across the street to the beach.
• Further east on Alki ave. - Thai place has outdoor seating on their deck.
• Dukes - as Emmy Jane mentioned.
• Cristo's next to Duke's has limited outdoor seating.
Sooo, lots of choices.
Heck, try 'em all.
Alki Crab and Fish has outdoor seating, too....and what a view from there!
I think Zeeks has outdoor seating, but it could also be Feedback Lounge's back deck.
Luna Park Cafe.
Generally, if everyone's outside, I'm the one in the empty inside of the restaurant, enjoying the air conditioning. I hide from the sun like a vampire. :)
The only place I ever eat outside is Luna Park Cafe. I'm a big gal, and it's one of the few places that has an outdoor seat that isn't as narrow as an airline seat, and/or made of some cheap plastic that I feel like will collapse (if I can get my butt in it to begin with). :)
and it's almost always in the shade
Beveridge Place has a patio, and you can bring food in with you. Not quite as convenient as opening a menu, but their beer selection is hard to beat. If I remember correctly, they have a bunch of take-out menus for local restaurants, so you can have food delivered.

Wait a minute...You can enjoy great beer at Beveridge and order in any delivery right to your table on the outdoor patio?! Sounds awesome but doesn't Beveridge have their own food? How does that help them?
johnnyblegs...they don't have food at BPP..so yes, order a pizza to be delivered....goes great w/ beer. Or take a picnic, or have greek food (Kokoras)...or abondanza...or whatever you'd like. They have a notebook with different menus in it...

The Bohemian on California has benches and tables outside -- when we went there for Sunday brunch today all the outside tables were full. Try the Elvis Presley stuffed French toast -- to die for (which, possibly, Elvis did). :-)

Would anyone really want to sit outdoors at Shadowland? For what, a view of the noisy intersection? Now if they had rooftop seating, that would be a different story...
Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. I would have a hard time thinking of a less desirable intersection in WS at which to sit and have a snack or drink.
Maybe they should just replace their front windows with some that are removable or roll-away.
Then it would be a constant battle to keep the smokers away from the open windows. It's probably best just like it is.

Seriously though, anything wider than a very narrow two-top can't possibly fit on either of their sidewalks. Not sure I would want to sit as close to traffic as it will have to be. Not to mention the foot traffic along the suddenly very narrow sidewalk.
I simply don't see how they will fit those tables onto the sidewalk.

Have you EVER seen that happen? I love having smoke-free dining rooms and bars, but the 25 foot rule is a joke.
How about the Brick yard BBQ, as soon as the weather gets more consistent they will have all open air seating and already have lots of cold drinks to choose from.

Luckymom30 - I hear ya. I would do it more but our back deck faces east. Gets a little chilly even deep in the summer.
Haven't tried BYBBQ just yet. Didn't know the Bohemian did brunch. Sounds delicious!
There is a reason why there isn't a lot of sidewalk eating in the Junction. I can only think of Easy Street. Are there others? Sidewalk eating at Shadowland sounds like a bad idea. I'd hate to eat at such a gas idle corner. I'd rather go inside to enjoy one of their cozy booths. But then again, if it's sunny out...Maybe Shadowland should brighten up the interior a bit. It's so dark in there.

Porterhouse has a big patio. You can tie your dog up on the railing as well!
