What roofing company should I use?

  1. I have a ton of roofing layers (3 or 4) and need to take it all off and get a brand new one. A lot of work; I want a good job for a good price.

    Who should I use?

Who should I stay away from?

  2. Edca has a 100% positive rating from me with about 8 years of work and referrals.

  3. I highly recommend A Better Roofing Company. They did a tear down for me a few years ago and it was a complex job. The contract was specific and clear, they showed up on time, the workers were great, they were careful with the landscaping, and all around they did an excellent job at a fair price. They do a lot of work in West Seattle and have excellent references.

  4. We had the opposite experience with A Better Roofing Company and I can't recommend them.

The workers used our backyard to pee during the job, the only english speaking foreman left the site most of the time and we had a hard time trying to communicate with the workers, they left nails all over our yard, a worker fell through our ceiling (they did repair it) and a small overhang area they did in the rear of the house to this day has nails all the way through.

The company may be okay, our particular job foreman sucked big time.

I highly recommend Norseman Roofing. I've worked with the owner, Sten, for over a decade and have never had a single problem. He himself works on every job and he's always provided excellent customer service on each project.

If you'd like to get an estimate his phone number is (206)715-9485.

EDCA roofing did right by me. Did exactly what they said they were going to do. Tore off existing layers, reroofed, and cleaned everything up in two days. They were reasonble price-wise, but not the cheapest. I got four bids and I got the best vibe talking with them prior to hiring them. They didn't try to "sell" me.

  7. We had a new roof installed about 6 years ago. We decided to use a local West Seattle Company who has since gone out of business.

I was VERY impressed with the runner up bidder. Hindsight being 20/20 I wish we would have selected them instead.

PS - I have heard mixed reviews about A Better Roof. More good than bad.

Jorve and Raynproof are two names to steer clear of. Their sales people were unprofessional and high pressure.

  8. We had a good experience with A Better Roofing too. Nothing like described by JimmyG.Sorry to hear that.

Do Not Use: Bruce's Roofing. Great sales team, freakishly horrible day of installation.

We also got a quote by Jorve. I was put off by their approach which seemed to suggest we commit insurance fraud. Our roof was old, not wholly damaged by the storms. We felt uncomfortable with their approach.

  10. Thanks everyone. Has anyone used Home depot's roofing?

I highly recommend Jorve. Expensive but worth evey penny. They come out every other year to inspect the roof at my request - free of charge. They replaced a 10 year old roof put on by Raynproof -- which I would not recommend -- that roof was supposed to last 20 years.

Not sure, but I think Home Depot will farm it out to a contractor, so you might not know what you are getting.

We just had the roof on our home and garage replaced by Ascent Roofing - 242-7479. They came recommended by Level Line Gutters which is coming by next week. They did a great job!

A nice crew of guys, worked very long days, cleaned up daily, and the price is very fair compared to others we looked into. And the owner Dave came by a couple of times to personnally check on things which I appreciated. My roof looks great! I'd recommend using them to anyone.
