Math problem: How much does the city plan to spend per bike, if they purchase 2000 bikes at a cost of $5M? And… how many Seattle residents think taking over a failing business and expanding it would make that failing business thrive?
Oh, one more question: How many homeless could the City of Seattle help out with $5M? Maybe setting up a safe parking area with bathrooms and warm showers for those living in cars and campers, who are working or maybe providing some “tiny houses” or perhaps a nice down payment on an apartment building, just to name a few ideas.
I own a bike and ride regularly, but IMHO, this proposal is insane – not to mention the Director of SDOT might be in a conflict of interest here. What do you think?
