What did you see on the bus today, austin?

  1. Something unspeakably salacious?

    Oh, I hope so . . .

  2. What a weird thread! I wasn't paying much attention on the bus today. I haven't seen any good makeouts in a few months at least. Everybody on the bus was fully clothed and not engaging in acts of carnality as far as I recall, but I did walk past what appeared to be a teenage girl in her underwear outside the bbq place on fauntleroy, what's it called, the place that was once ok corral. Though really, not much excitement today. Not even when I was in fremont earlier.

  3. I'm thinking of starting a new feature called "Something Weird in West Seattle." I'm sure there'd be no trouble finding material for it, but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to create a situation where people were doing weird stuff in public just to get attention, like the "Jackass" crew.

Speaking of underwear . . . well not underwear, exactly. . . but I have noticed a few women wearing pyjamas in public lately, and that seems kind of weird to me. But maybe it's one of those generational things, and I just don't understand what's going on, as usual. Anyway, I think the pyjamas-in-public fad got started in Asia and it's spread here, like bird flu.

Other than that, things have been mostly normal. So you're right: I guess it was a normal day after all.

    Still 90 minutes left, though.

  4. Sorry, all tonight's weirdness so far is happening elsewhere. People breaking into/trespassing (depending on which of our neighborhood-news sistren/brethren is describing it) at Woodland Park Zoo - rampaging with flashlights. Most excitement on the scanner here has been reports of groups of males arguing/fighting at various spots around Admiral, not even in the restaurant/bar district. I *am* about to post a short report about a dumped dishwasher, though ...

  5. Well I saw something tiny bit weird on my drive home from babysitting tonight, about 11pm, just south of the junction, on east side of street; a couple on sidewalk watching and laughing as another woman pulled down her pants to mount a flower planter as if it were a toilet, and (I assume) pee away

  6. nice, Diane...we have such classy people in the 'hood at times, don't we? Must've been a furriner visitin'...didn't live close enough to make it home. :(

  7. I'm just going to assume things like underwear girl and flower planter lady are side effects of people reacting to the four loko ban, like the guy throwing up in his own car over in the other thread.

One time I was on the bus waiting at a stoplight and saw a guy using a gallon of milk to carefully 'paint' a center stripe down the middle of the sidewalk on alaska. At the time I thought that was pretty weird but I later learned it was the crazy guy who markers hate graffiti on people's garage doors. Weird is coincidence's way of having a sense of humor; crazy is just crazy.

  9. My wife and I saw a Metro route 346 bus run a stop sign on Friday. And it was not a simple "rolling stop" unless one considers 5mph excusable.

Fortunately for us here in WS, this incident was in the Northgate area. Be warned, be careful, be very careful when trusting your life to a Metro driver. And you thought it was just people in other cars that are dangerous.

I've seen them run yellow lights before, but never a stop sign.

And yes, Metro will have an email waiting on Monday morning.

  10. last weekend (maybe) 7-11 on avalon & 35th had a party. not sure why, but it was strange. they had a bouncy castle, bbq, and games. it didn't seem safe to have a children's attraction in a high traffic area like a gas station.

i have a picture. how do i include that in this post?

  11. AK, the party at 7-11 was probably related to new ownership (franchisee). There was a recent story about here on WSB: http://westseattleblog.com/2010/10/west-seattle-businesses-new-7-11-owner-plans-grand-opening

  12. OH! So that what's going on. Some girl showed up to yoga class in her pj bottoms yesterday. They were definitely not regular pants. Thought it was really weird.

  13. Mike, That makes more sense. I didn't think they were in the business of hosting birthday parties!

  14. I was on one of the 20-somethings (21, 22, I don't really pay attention since I debus before it matters) yesterday and somebody almost left their wallet on the back seat of the bus! Fortunately another rider was paying attention and alerted the wallet dropper before he got too far. Not many stops later the guy across the aisle from me was leaving and almost left one of his articles on the seat before I handed it back. Look out for your fellow bus rider, citizens! Sometimes we don't notice forgotten or dropped objects, especially in big coat season. Remain vigilant bus riders!

Also I saw some people making out in the pie shop today.

Was it Friday night? We crossed Alki at 64th walking towards the beach. I held back the kids before we crossed the bike lane and good thing; lo and behold dude in a maroon Subaru decided to bypass the parked cars (and Alki Ave.) AND DRIVE IN THE BIKE LANE!
He was coming rather stealthily at us in the dark. License plate was a 945 XXX; we kind of freaked. He made a u-turn back onto Alki...while we gave a whew and I let loose a bit of improper language.
    Now that was weird!

Not recent, but did happen on a bus...
    A woman flossing her teeth.
As you can imagine... everyone within two rows of flossing distance were cringing and praying that they wouldn't be hit with collateral teeth gunk...
What part of of "personal hygiene" doesn't this person understand?

I had a guy sitting behind me at a Mariners game start clipping his toenails! I managed to mostly ignore it until one flew over my shoulder into my mostly finished beer.
The new beer he bought me didn't really make up for the whole experience, but at least he was done grooming by the time I got back.

    Sorry RB!
I'm going to look at a restaurant to lease today. If it happens, I'll MAKE dinner for you!
