I know, I know...it's early. But anyone know the start date this year (WSB Editor?). They used to start pre-Thanksgiving and now I think it's the weekend after...? Love to get in early for holiday cards. Thanks!

Here is a link to the information it starts Nov. 25th. http://www.santaphotos.com/locations/westwood-village/

Is this the same one as in past years?

If it is, they're sure a lot more organized. Most things at WV aren't even online. Thanks to LM for dredging that up. The holiday info we have is on our regular events calendar but we're porting it over to the annual traditional Holidays page as I speak. Junction is doing things a little differently this year too, as we mentioned on the main page a week or so ago ... professional photos at City Mouse two Sundays, and a DIY photo day the third - http://wsjunction.org/2009/10/hometown-holidays-2011/

All I typed in was Westwood Village Santa 2011 and I found the link. We were at Westwood last weekend and it looked like they were getting decorations and Santa's house ready for the photos.
Tracy - do you happen to know if the holiday wagon rides will be in the junction again this year? Any holiday themed plays for kids in the area?

They've commercialized it? Noooooo! Now it's a photo-in-the-box company? Is the retired Janitor Santa gone...the perfect one who sat for free with food donation? The one we've had the past two years. And those prices - this is not Nordstrom. I could cry. Maybe they just got booted from Westwood? WSB - please find out!
Posted 6 months ago # -
Wait! I didn't read that far! Pricing - not a toy or food donation?
WSB - we NEED the skinny on this! Our Santa pictures have always been the Westwood Santa (sorry - I don't know what else to call him). He is wonderful and a favorite part of our holidays is to get our picture and then get a toy for the tree.
Please - we need the real story!Posted 6 months ago # -
We'll track down mall management tomorrow. Remember, they changed ownership this year. Actually I think I may have an e-mail address for the new site manager ... will find it ... TR

After looking at their web site, I did find a 50% OFF coupon. This should bring the $21 fee down to $11.

And... if you would like to have your picture taken with the old Fredrick and Nelson backdrop, you can find that up in Lake Forest Park.

The Westwood Santa told us a couple years ago that he used to work as the Nordstrom's santa. They quit paying for his parking and he said, see ya. Came to Westwood. Funny thing is my sister who has teenagers came with us a couple years ago and said, That's the same Santa the boys had when they were little! We looked at old pictures and sure enough. I'm very sad this is changing. Felt like our little West Seattle secret. He was so great with the kids and never rushed you through. It seemed like a great fundraiser for the food bank.

Got the info from Westwood. Will be writing about it shortly (I have one more bit of info to research). In the words of the center manager (who again is from their new management firm, which came in with the ownership change), "It's different, but we think it will be better." - Tracy

Agree - if Hotwire finds the Westwood Santa we'll be there!
Posted 6 months ago # -
Bump. I just contacted Hotwire.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Of course they're going to say it's better - they are charging a lot of money. I am so anti-commercial Santa. So impersonal, rushed, cookie-cutter. Thanks karen and luckymom30 - let us know!!

I will I have contacted Hotwire and I will post the their answer. I think it would be good for all the junction merchants getting people to the junction for Santa pics or a visit to Santa and maybe some local shopping.

The Junction Association has been hosting Santa for several years and will do so this year also. 100% of the $15 suggested donation goes to West Seattle charities. It is my understanding that they can buy far more food / diapers etc with the cash than we can. The Junction's Santa is a great guy from the neighborhood who volunteers his time for this. He is patient, kind and wonderful with the kids. He embodies the 'spirit' of the Holidays.

The Junction Santa is fantastic; we've gone every year. And Donna takes beautiful pictures!

Found last years schedule but it shows it is for only Dec. 19th?
