West Seattle woman stands up for herself

  1. i don't know who the anonymous woman in this story is..
but i want her to know that her bravery did not go unnoticed...

kudos to the West Seattle Woman who stood up to her insurance company to get coverage for the removal of an IUD when she decided she decided for pregnancy.

I can understand why she might want to remain anonymous...
but her story points out the arbitrary nature of having our healthcare mandated by insurance companies.

  2. bumping this up. In my business I accept health insurance as payment, with a docs referral. Regence Blue Shield is the only one I don't accept. They are very difficult to deal with.

  3. Yes, kudos to her!

This woman, and Vera from Village Green, are great examples of average (West Seattle!!) citizens with the courage to stand up to the "big guys" and fight their illegal or unethical behavior.

OMG ... are we living in the middle ages? What an interesting angle the insurance company chose to take "not medically necessary"

I am so glad she sued and won, not only for herself, but for all of the other women they had denied.

  5. I think insurance companies paid for viagra as soon as it was released but continued to deny payment for birth control pills. Double standard?
