SarahScootParticipantI have purchased several items over the last few months with the intent of donating to a toy drive at my husband’s work (Starbucks SSC), but he hasn’t seen anything about a drive this year. So, now I’m looking for an option in West Seattle. I’d prefer not to donate to Salvation Army. I know I can just donate to West Side Baby, which I may do, but if anyone has other suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
FWIW, my company does “giving tree” ornaments with a local organization and I’ve already purchased for those two. I know several stores do giving trees, but I’d like a place to just drop off these items I’ve already purchased.

shefidgetsMemberHi Sarah,
There is a giving tree at Village Green on 26th for Jubilee Women’s Center. They have an easy list to take a look at to see if any of the items you have are on their wish list. There are 31 people all together, women and children.

The Velvet BulldogParticipantHi Sarah: It’s not in WS, but Childhaven accepts toys for our kiddos for Christmas and for a program we have called “Brighter Birthdays” ensuring that every child will get a new outfit, shoes, book and toy for their birthday. They get this plus a bit more for Christmas. Again, I know it’s not IN WS, but there are WS people who work there! ;-) For more info, call the Holiday Giving line at 206.957.4805.
Regardless of where your gifts go, thanks for being so thoughtful regarding the kiddos in our community!

SarahScootParticipantThank you, all! Great suggestions. Honestly, I will probably drop off at Les Schwab because it is close to home, but there are so many great organizations out there, and I hope every kid out there gets a fun gift this Christmas. :-)

rrigbyMemberHey Sarah,
My sister and I are having a annual Toy’s for foster children at CP Coffee on California Sunday from 5pm to 7pm if you want to a drop them off there as well. This is open to the public so if anyone else is reading this post and wish to drop toy’s off we will be very grateful for the added toy’s. We are also excepting hats and scarves for the homeless as well.
