All of the above.
Plus: Ethnic grocery stores

being our own city within the city.
if i had a job here, i'd rarely cross the jeanette williams memorial bridge.
but i like the easy access and proximity to downtown, as well.

The views and beautiful scenery are second to none in the Seattle area. Where else can you be on a 500 for bluff above Puget Sound or see the most amazing views of the city skyline like you can here?

what everyone above said...

No Wal-marts or Sam's Clubs.

It's quieter here. Most of my friends in North Seattle seem to be blocks from I-5 or Aurora and you can really hear it.

West Seattle is a destination unto itself. You don't get here without wanting to be here, and no one's passing through West Seattle on their way to someplace else...

Three words: The Beer Junction

The community, which has always been there, but has been really focused into a strong, loving and warm community by the West Seattle Blog. I love it here! Plus all those other great benefits mentioned above.

WD...I love the community thing, too. I have noticed how much this community has grown tighter in many ways in the last 7 years. Yes, the WSB has a lot to do with that :)

What I love (and sometimes don't love!) is wherever I go in West Seattle I will run into someone I know. Love because I like seeing friends, don't love because sometimes I am running out and hoping nobody sees me!

The neighborhood. The food. The Blog. The animal people. The guys at my local 7-11.

It's quiet here in a way that reminds me of my own small home town, but less meddling and with way better food. :) After growing up on the flat, dry prairie, I can't imagine not living by all this water and beautiful landscape. Easy Street Records, Maharaja, West Seattle Fabric Store, WSB, Fiddlehead, Zippy's, the fine kitty-loving folks at Next to Nature - so many things I can't imagine living without!

360 degrees of majestic views! Mountains, Sound, Cityscape...
Mostly affordable living...in the sense...there are less expensive areas in Seattle...but you get sustainable value here!

It's close to downtown, but feels a million miles away at times.
Great neighbors, incredible views (although I do not have a view!) and a community feel.
I love walking the Junction and running into 4-5 people you know. You don't get that everywhere.

I remember the view I used to have before everyone else built 45 foot boxes right to the property line :)

The views. The hills. The dogs. Sasquatch's homies.
