   ... looking for recommendations ... it is a lot to ask... Not sure if I am over stepping an unbeknownst rule of asking too much in one blog ( (perhaps the title should of been the last 10 things to do in WS before you are triturated by your fellow bloggers) [:^|) :

   1 good stiff drink (place) ((and your drink suggestion would be welcomed as well))
   2 great meal (type of food doesnt matter)
   3 wonderful bakery goods
   4 favorite farmer's market
   5 best picnic spot
   6 walk/hike route
   7 most romantic spot(s)
   8 favorite thing(s) to do on your free time
   9 local bands
   10 book to read

   lol. for some reason, i wouldn't have taken you for a MCD fan, ms.

   haven't been to rock clubs in a while, so i was drawing a blank on local bands. do the melvins count?

   curiouslyinquisitive: if you haven't found KEXP yet, it's at 90.3 FM and pretty much caters to all interests throughout the week. best radio station, possibly in the nation. playlists and live streaming at http://www.kexp.org

   KPLU (88.5) is a close second.

   I'm going to have to respectfully disagree about seacrest park not being in west seattle.. Unless there's a seacrest park other than the one the water taxi leaves from?

    Everything from Bakery Nouveau is great; their chocolate cake (which I just had for my birthday party last night) is amazing.
    I don't know anything about Bakery Nuveau, but it sounds like I should check it out, since so many people are raving about it.
    Bakery Nouveau had better watch its back; Bakery Nuveau is gaining serious West Seattle traction. ;-)

    1. West Five / Mai Tai

    2. Bird on a Wire Espresso (cafe/snacks), Zippy's Burgers (cheap), Fresh Bistro (spendy).

    3. Original Bakery or Bakery Nouveau

    4. West Seattle Farmer's Market.

    5. Lincoln Park, especially at tables/BBQ's along the beach path.

    6. Fauntleroy Creek Park (Barton, south of 35th Ave. SW)

    7. Salty's patio on a nice day, or near the bar fireplace on a cold night. Great views!

    8. Hanging out at the Celtic Swell at Alki on a rainy day. Walking/window shopping in the Junction. Taking the water taxi downtown on a clear crisp day. Riding the ferries ANYWHERE (Bainbridge, Whidbey, etc.). Spending the day on Vashon for their Farmer's Market and/or shopping in town. Uwajimaya. Pike Place Market. Old Towne Burien.

    9. David Bazan, Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers (PDX)

    10. Whatever I'm reading currently. Right now it's "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk" by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish.

    Oh yeah, hey, probably seahurst. I didn't even think of that, I've never been there.
    That's not true though, after thinking about it remember I did kayak there once but I didn't get out. Anyway. Carry on!

    Thank you all so much for the skinny and the what not. My objective is to enhale and consume all that is West Seattle. I'd like to say that I'm not picky but that would be false. I hope others reading this blog may have learned something new about West Seattle and if not, then something about fellow WS Bloggers.

    6 All over Lincoln Park
    7 walk along the beach

    9 Anything sold @ Easy Street
    10 quick crime fictions (john rain or lee child series)

    redblack...KEXP is to the point of selling out. They USED to be great. They've gone very commercial with their playlists lately. They're still good but you were closer to the mark with KPLU. They are the new (old)KEXP.

    While not a recent book, "West Seattle 101" by Lori Hinton was very helpful to us when we first moved here.

    i saw kim thayil (soundgarden) in feedback last year during KEXP's west seattle hood-to-hood challenge celebration. i wonder if he lives here, too, or was just visiting.

    one of the best musicians ever born.
