Does anyone know which might be a simpler route - coming wesbound from 99 or from 5 to W. Seattle? I have a friend coming and she gets lost easily. :) thanks!

I don't think she can get here from I-5 westbound - since it is closed. Check out the link for more info. http://westseattleblog.com/2011/09/another-traffic-alert-westbound-spokane-st-viaduct-closures

Where is your friend coming from? And when?

my friend came over from 99 south this afternoon (sat), and she said it seemed as if 99 entrance was the same as always and that nothing on the bridge was closed. She may have been mixed up, don't know. What does it mean when the blog says 99 traffic will be directed to the high bridge?

  5. There's none of that going on this weekend. The only thing happening right now is: Till 10 this morning (Sunday) - if they don't reopen it sooner - the **westbound only** section of the Spokane Street Viaduct, which is the West Seattle Bridge straightaway between I-5 and Highway 99, is closed. So no getting onto the WS Bridge from I-5 or Beacon Hill. Either take 99 (Alaskan Way Viaduct) to get to the bridge OR take the low bridge (accessible via surface streets like Marginal Way). However, this is all a moot point after 10 am, so folks coming here for the Mobile Chowdown 11 am-5 pm for example should not have to worry.
