   Hello

   I have negotiated with my landlord so I can look for my "forever dog" I do have constraints, I can't take a puppy or a special needs dog. Full breed/mutt is less important to me than a good match. 2-4 years old would be ideal. short haired, female preferred - but I'm flexible. Moderate energy is good, calm is important. I will provide a loving home. If anyone knows of a dog needing a new home or has thoughts on where to look you can email me privately. krencampbell@yahoo.com

   Thank you for wanting to adopt, instead of going shopping. Based on another forum topic we posted, we would encourage you to adopt a black dog. Here are a few agencies to contact:

   1) AARF: Heather: heather@myaarf.org or Erin: erin@myaarf.org If they don't have your forever dog, they will help you find him/her.

   2) Seattle Animal Shelter: http://www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/adoption-overview.htm

   3) Regional Animal Services of King County: http://www.kingcounty.gov/safety/regionalAnimalServices.aspx (they just took in 62 chihauhaus from a hoarding situation)

   Consider a greyhound. They make every other breed look hyper in comparison, they have very little hair to shed, and they have the sweetest temperament of any dog I've ever encountered. Smaller females are 50-60 lbs. Commonly referred to as "40 mph couch potatoes". Many endure horrendous abuse, and tens of thousands "disappear" each year when they get too slow to race.

   Sorry, I missed the "small" part in the heading of your post. Greyhounds aren't exactly small...but they're precious, and maybe somebody else will want one!

   My aunt rescued a Greyhound and named her Classy and she sure was! She was so gentle and curled up into the smallest ball to sleep. I think she lived a full life, into her teens I believe.

   I talked to a lady from Nickelsville Wednesday morning who was walking her little dog. It happens she's decided she needs to find a good loving home for her pet. She works and doesn't feel its fair to leave it chained all day. Maybe you can connect some how? Wish I had her name. Mybe someone from there knows who she is. Sorry I can't give you more help.

   The Humane Society will be at Next to Nature in the Junction tomorrow from 11-3. Not sure which dogs we will bring but feel free to come by to talk about the best fit for you!

    Thanks for posting that, Betty.

    I e-mailed Wren regarding the dog, but she's looking for something a bit bigger than a chihuahua.

    However, Wren, the dog's owner wanted me to point out that Zena is a bit bigger than the average chihuahua, (I can attest to it! ;-) ) So, I can still put you in touch if you're interested, and no longer have her contact info.

    thanks for everyone's tips. right now I am seeking carpet remnants that I need to put down before I can adopt my forever dog. I will keep everyone posted. I will need things like a crate, dishes, a collar and leash for a small dog if anyone has any of those items that they aren't using. thanks!

    Our Yorkie passed away 4 years ago at age 17, so I have a crate and a few other items still hanging around that I don’t have any use for (I guess I’ve kept them for sentimental reasons), so, depending on how big your new little guy is, some of the items I have may work for you. Our little fuzz butt was just 6 lbs, so some of his collars and such may not work if your new friend is much bigger than that. I will check around this weekend and see what we still have that might work for you and will keep you posted. If you don’t need or want them, I will donate them to the little dogs that were recently rescued.

    Our neighbor gave us 2 small dog dishes in a stand when they moved that we, having 2, 90 - 100 lb dogs can't use. The set has never been used so if you want it you are more than welcome to it. E-mail me at tjwconstcoinc at mac dot com if interested.

    Wren, I have so much respect and love for the way you're finding your dog. We gave our home to a crazy and wonderful puggle that was hit by a car and nearly died - he has lit up our home and we are so grateful that we get to make the rest of his life (he's about 6) as good as it gets. I have no real advice, just support. You'll find the perfect dog!

    Hi Trueblue I think my new companion will probably weigh more than 6 pounds, but what ever you have that will work would be great. would be great.
