DannyQMemberWe are moving and are looking for a classy, modern, round dining room table. We’re open to square if the right one comes along.
Must be a darker wood and nothing cheap. We’ll pay for quality, but understand we may have to just buy something from a furniture store.
Let me know!

The Velvet BulldogParticipantHi DQ: How do you feel about oval and how many people are you looking to seat?
January 5, 2013 at 4:24 pm #781770
DannyQMemberStandard, 4-6 I suppose. The dining room in our new apartment is quite big. It’s a modern place, what do you have in mind? Not finding much on Craigslist.

Talaki34ParticipantKeep in mind that an oval sometimes works much better than round depending on the space. It even works better than oblong if you require the space the as a walk-through too. The soft corners make getting around a little easier.
If the design of the table does not fit your home, rather than discount it think of ways to bring it into the space. An older piece with great lines repainted using a more modern color can artfully blend old and new. Unless you are looking for a more eclectic look, I would only choose a few pieces of furniture to do this with. A table would be great and if you bring in let’s say a mirror that has the same type of lines…Voila! You have made a style statement. LOL!!!

addParticipantYou might want to check out Suite Arrangements, a furniture consignment store, in the “triangle” area near Les Schwab. They have good quality stuff – we got a beautiful dining room table + chairs at a really reasonable price, as well as some other pieces there and they’ll even provide delivery for small charge.

tom kelleyParticipantCraig’s list often has them under free stuff.

DannyQMemberI suppose I should rephrase my statement. We are looking for something under $300. I didn’t realize that my statement of “We don’t mind paying for quality” was going to up the price that much. lol.
We could buy something DECENT at Ikea and for $300. Just thought I would stretch the second hand idea before buying new. :-0

BonnieParticipantWe have a TRIANGLE shaped table. Got it from MIL. Triangle? It looks nice. Not very practical. LOL!

Talaki34ParticipantI am getting ready to go to the Junction so it made me think, they have a consignment store where I bought my loveseat and a “seconds” shop that might have something.
I would also shop the smaller stores and look at their display tables. I bought my 2 piece hutch and freestanding kitchen cabinet at Hallmark. The hutch is handmade and sighed by the craftsman. Both are beautiful.
Don’t settle, be creative and keep looking. It may take a while, but just getting something to have something may be a disappointment down the road.

The Velvet BulldogParticipantDQ: Just checked with the available dining table’s owner and he was hoping to get more than $300. Sorry!

SKBMemberDefinitely check out Suite Arrangements, they only sell good quality furniture on consignment, so their inventory changes constantly. But perhaps not in your price range… I had good luck with Overstock.com – good selection of round, dark wood tables with pedestal bases for budget pricing.
