W W SWiWS D ?

  1. Greetings y'all. Subterranean Homesick DP here.

I was hoping I could continue doing the SWiWS feature from here at my South Delridge hideout, but the Forces of Boringness have finally caught up with me.

I think the problem lies with all the graphics and HTML code I'd been inserting in my posts. In any case, the out-of-control post-gobbling WSB SPAM filter has lately been removing ALL my posts, so I've effectively been cut off from the Blog.

I'm communicating with you now from a new account (DBP) and I don't want to take any chances with this one. So for now . . . no more graphics. And that means no more SWiWS.

And that means no more FUN!

    [muffled sobs]

Maybe I'll eventually be able to come up with a work-around for this. In the meantime, if someone else wants to try and take over the feature, you're welcome to it. I'll even help.

Just watch out for those SPAM filters, y'all . . .

bummer. Is there a way for the editors to dump the "archive" of them so they aren't taking up space - or would that even help?

  3. Say it ain't so DP, oops DBP (does B stand for bad?) - have you contacted Tracy or Patrick to try and resolve - we love our SWiWS and although some of us may have been on a summer hiatus we look forward to it each week - I often find myself tooling around saying "wish I had my camera to send this to DP for SWiWS" - but you know I'm a bit of a technophobe so......

    Bring it back!!!

  4. Maybe start its own space for it--seems like tumblr would be ideal for this--and just post a link to it on the forum?

And I agree with jwws re: contacting Tracy and Patrick. As they've said several times, they don't check the forum often, and likely aren't aware of this issue.

DP/DBP--Is it safe to assume that you HAVE talked with TR/PS about this and that's how you know the posts are being eaten by the SPAM filter?

It does seem a shame to lose your contributions, such as SWiWS. How's about starting your own lil' Blog? I'll visit!

  10. Yes, that spam filter is an interesting experience. At some point it determined that my website's URL name was spam, as was my email address (containing the same words) and all my stuff was getting pulled here. I had to change my URL to a tinyurl link to the same site, and put an older email address. TR and I tried to troubleshoot it, but we could figure out no reason why I was suddenly targeted as spam.

  11. Yeah, I have tried working with Tracy on this. No luck.

It's not like Tracy doesn't care, though. She's been working the problem for a couple of years now, and this whole stupid SPAM thing has been giving her the fantods.

I'd really like to keep sharing some of my pictorial-feature pieces with you all, though. Maybe I can post the text and then link to my own blog for the full articles, including pix.

  13. I look forward to DP's wonderful photo-enhanced pieces. If you do them on your own blog and post links, fewer people will follow through to enjoy them, but at least they'll be available to those of us who would.

I wish there were a way to make the spammers choke on their own effluvia. The troubles they cause go way beyond clogging the system.
