Catholic Community Services' Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after-school/evening educational enrichment program for at-risk students in first through twelfth grade. With tutoring centers in six low and mixed-income public housing communities in Seattle, YTP provides more than 450 kids, every year, with a fun, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success.
Our High Point Tutoring center, located in the High Point neighborhood of West Seattle, is currently looking for volunteers to assist with our Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is a six-week fun and intensive literacy program for students in grades 1-8 that are behind in reading and writing. Volunteer tutors assist students as they read books, write book reports, learn new vocabulary words, improve comprehension, participate in fun literacy activities, and hopefully discover the joy of reading! This year SRP will run from Monday, June 27- Thursday, August 4. We are still accepting new volunteers! Visit http://www.ccsww.org/ytp to fill out an application today! For additional questions contact Marcel Purnell, Associate Volunteer Coordinator at MarcelP@ccsww.org or (206) 328-5970.
