cfrotMemberLast night half of the wood fence and on of the tables at Slices on Alki was ripped apart and stolen. Im guessing for fire wood on the beach. This is diheartening for Slices and for the neighborhood. Did anyone see anything or does anyone have information. Please contact Slices if you can help. Thank you

miwsParticipantDo you know if Slices, or perhaps did you report it to SPD?
Even if it seems like it’s “too late” to do so, it’s good for them to have a record of the incident.

cfrotMemberThe SPD was contacted and has a record of the incident. I believe four males were questioned on the beach by police when a call was made in regards to the vandalism. The men aparently cooperated and gave statements. allegedly the fence was already on the beach….

WSBKeymasterC. if you are affiliated with Slices or know them, we would be interested in reporting this on the home (news) page, also if anyone took photos of the damage (I would suspect it’s been fixed by now? we can go by Alki later but are tied up at the moment) – you can e-mail me at editor@westseattleblog.com

barryleafMemberI think there needs to be more of a police or security presince on alki beach. The area is getting worse and dirtier everytime I go down there

alki_2008Participant@barryleaf…that’s a topic that has been discussed many times in the forums, especially after last summery’s shooting.
I’m not sure how often you visit Alki Beach, but “dirtier” is an interesting comment.

JoBParticipantExtra policing can’t happen without an increased budget for our police department.. which would require an increase in taxes…
it’s simple math. When the number of taxpayers able to buy goods and thus pay sales taxes is decreased by a conservative estimate of 20% and homeowners lose their homes homes devaluing real estate by another conservative estimate of 20% thus decreasing tax revenue … the available funds shrink. You can’t buy more with less money…
if we want Alki cleaned up..
we may have to pick up trash
and increase our neighborhood presence along the beach..
]
the question is how badly we want it?

BlendParticipantWhenever we go to the beach..we bring a bag and pick up trash. If everyone did that then it would be much nicer.
We have to be the change we want to see in the world.
