avalonMemberDoes anybody know what you do when you find something like this? Good joke, but seriously, what do I do, I’m surely not going to throw it away!!
October 26, 2013 at 5:21 pm #799288
elikapekaParticipantMaybe check with a local funeral home for some guidance?
October 26, 2013 at 5:22 pm #799289
BreezyParticipantMaybe contact a trusted mortuary and ask them. Or, turn into police? For whomever it belongs to it’s not a joke, and if they’re looking for it, they’ll be very happy you found it and have it in safekeeping.

elikapekaParticipantAnother thought – maybe contact a local TV station? It might be a human interest type story they’d want to cover.

wakefloodParticipantI think calling local mortuaries is the best start.
As awful as it sounds, some folks who have intentions of spreading ashes in favorite places don’t usually find out that its either illegal or frowned upon, leaving them without a plan B.
it’s also wouldn’t be the first time that a family game of Hot Potato with the remains ended up with the loved one um…”lost”. Many folks like the idea of having the remains displayed but then they ponder the reality and it seems a little less…something.
I’ve witnessed both of these scenarios play out in real life.
October 26, 2013 at 6:24 pm #799292
JanSParticipantor..another scenario..it was stolen in a home burglary and discarded?
October 26, 2013 at 6:37 pm #799293
celeste17ParticipantI would contact a funeral home (Forest Lawn) and I am sure there is a serial number on the urn that can be traced.
October 28, 2013 at 9:20 pm #799294
avalonMemberI turned it over to the Police, thanks for the help!!

sacatoshParticipantSeems to me there was a recent story of a burglary that involved a missing urn of remains. I can’t recall whether it was a car or home – am thinking car.

miwsParticipantsacatosh, I was thinking the same thing when I first read this the other day, but couldn’t find anything after a quick search.
