FYI for anyone looking for the little tyke.
Was seen early this morning by a neighbor of mine around rear entrance of Lincoln Park on 47th....
I saw a little lost chihuahua on my drive home near starbucks at morgan junction, 11PM on monday night. He then turned and headed down fauntleroy. I tried to chase after him, but lost him around the long turn. If anyone is looking for him, good luck.
I saw him again at noon today running up Othello from Lincoln Park. He ran across Fauntleroy and then continued up Othello to the 1st street and hung a left dashing into the bushes at a dead end. He would not come for a treat. Doesn't look malnourished but definitely street savvy. Also appeared to be unneutered.
Bump...
I would think that someone would be missing him by now.
Spotted this dog about 30 minutes ago (Saturday), 37th SW and SW Brandon. Definitely scared, but savvy enough. Could somebody have just dumped him?
We've seen him a couple of times sniffing around the houses on the west side of Fauntleroy just south of Edmunds. Saw him yesterday and a few minutes ago.
He does look a bit scrawny to me, but he's energetic enough. You can't get within 20 feet of him though. He acts darn near feral .. I wonder how long he's been out on the streets.
Has anyone notified Animal Control? Sounds like he should be picked up and checked for a chip/taken to a shelter before he gets run over or winds up being coyote food.
Unless someone else has already done so...if you see this dog, please:
1. put food out so there is a greater chance s/he will stay around in one area. This will make it easier to collect the dog.
2. Contact Seattle Animal Shelter to borrow a humane trap...they will show you how to set it and be safe. Think they might even come out to your home with the trap.

3. Or contact us at furryfaces@hotmail.com and you can borrow one of our humane cat traps--if you think the dog is about the same size as a cat. Once the dog is 'collected' s/he can go to Seattle Animal Shelter where s/he will safe, recieve any needed medical care and hopefully, reunited with her/his person(s). [Otherwise, assuming all is well, s/he will get a new home).
Thank you for caring. Cheers, F3
Remember--It's Hip, To Be Snipped
I have seen this dog this morning. I was leaving to go to work and he popped his head up from a crevice by my porch. I tried calling to him, and he just looked at me. I tried walking slowly towards him with food, but he hobbled away. His back left leg was held partly up. I left food by his bed that he looked like he made. This is the second sighting of him. My daughter told me that she saw him last Friday sleeping on our lawn. I will check to see if the food I left out today was taken, and contact Animal Control. Poor guy
:(
not good that his leg is not being used.
poor little guy.
NaturalandOrganic, can you tell us your neighborhood or approximate location so we can help watch for him? Poor baby
I live on Fauntleroy south of SW Edmonds. I laid out some bacon for him last night. I know, not the best of food but I wanted him to return, he did!!! He left however so I took the opportunity to lay out a towel, fresh clean water and dog food. Contacting the Animal Shelter in a bit....although I think the little guy has been on his on for awhile. He seems very savy
Way to go Natural! Bacon ought to tempt him, good idea. Thanks for the quick reply and I'll be looking for the little guy when out and about.
The pooch seems to have settled in at naturalandorganic's yard for the time being. Since we're neighbors we're teaming up to "bring him in". Natural told me that he took food by hand a few times. He was sunning in the yard this morning, and I tossed him a few pieces of bacon, and got a guarded tail-wag out of him.
We've been trying to get the Humane Society on the line, but so far this morning 20 minutes on hold was all we could endure. We'll keep trying.
I also happened to speak with a nice lady who lives nearby who also has been trying to get close to the little guy. She may have a home for him. For our part if he needed fostering (after checking for a chip and getting him some medical attention), we were willing.
A big thanks to naturalandorganic for providing him a comfy place to sleep these cold nights. If we can't bring him in today, we'll be adding a microwaved heat pad to his bed before nightfall.
Stay tuned.
Thanks for all you are doing for this little lost fellow. Hopefully he will be inside and safe and warm soon!
Fed the little stinker by hand a little while ago. He's very sweet, and very wary. We've lined up a trap and we'll see what comes of that. In the meantime he has food and a warm place to sleep outdoors.
Got him!! The missus lured him in with some bits of hot dog, cornered him (gently) and he just gave up. Got a leash on him, crated him, and he's off to the vet as I type this. Didn't even need the trap.
He's very gentle. The missus was holding him and he didn't make a peep. Not a whine, not a growl, just had that look on his face like "okay, what's next?"
I'm so glad that he's been "caught". Hope he's got an owner that's missing him, but, if not, sounds like there are people who will care. Fed and warm is a good thing, and I bet he appreciates the kindness.Thank you to all who have helped capture this little guy.
Applause!!!
Way to go you guys!!!
This is great news. Please keep us posted on how he is doing!
This is wonderful news! How sweet that the little one will be safe. Kudos to those who cared so much.
Love all the happy endings for many of the critters who need them.
Clean bill of health from the vet. His leg is apparently okay, the doc speculates that he's a bit bow-legged and runs funny when he's scared. No micro-chip.
The vet's recommendation was to take him to the Humane Society who would give him a free bath and a neuter, and likely he'd be adopted out within a few weeks. So naturally we brought him home. :-)
There's someone in the neighborhood who's interested, so we'll check with them first. If that doesn't work out we'll take him to The Humane Society. They do a good job of finding homes.
I'm just glad to get him indoors. It's going to be frickin' cold tonight.
richwseattle---Yeah! Great News!
Couple of quick thoughts
...let Seattle Animal Control know you got him...just in case someone has been looking him.
...whoever adopts him, please ensure they commit to neutering him (or reimburse you for the expense).
Cheers, F3
Remember, It's Hip To Be Snipped
The little stinker will have a new home as of noon or so tomorrow. The new owner is committed to having him snipped and chipped.
That's good advice, F3. I'll be sure to advise the new owner about notifying Seattle Animal Control in case someone's been looking. I've been keeping an eye out in the "lost pet" ads I could find online and there's been nothing, though.
For tonight, he's inside with us with a good meal in his belly and nodding off on one of our ottomans. Thanks again to Naturalandorganic for showing him some love and getting him to stick around.
gee, maybe they could name him "Bloggy"...lolol..
I have a rescue kitty that had been abandoned....they sure do appreciate a new, warm home :)
This is so awesome.
Three cheers for the awesome folks who are helping this little tike.
Three cheers for the Great people of West Seattle and most of all.....
A big Wahoo to TR and the team for creating this commonplace we can all use to reach out to each other (and to occasionally piss each other off too.).
Bloggy, my son, my son! ;-)
