    Hi--
    Thought I'd start here.
I have a unique situation with a child with fragile health.
My daughter is ten, attends school in W. Sea., and I teach. Unfortunately, she was hospitalized a number of times these past few years (she has a metabolic disorder--a bit like diabetes), and trying to keep up with my own classes has been maddening.

So, I thought that if I could hire someone to be on call M-F from 9:30-2:00 (I have a part-time position), I might feel more secure. On those days when my daughter just doesn't have enough steam, but doesn't necessarily need me, then she could stay home, drink lots of fluids, and relax--with you. Also, if she is ever hospitalized but stable, it would be great to have a confident sitter who could come to Children's while I go teach. (I have done this numerous times, either using one of my older children or with our long-time nanny in CA.)

I realize most days there won't be a need for a sitter. Perhaps we could work out something where you could help with the household chores a few times a week. For me, the biggest thing is to know that you will always be available from 9:30 until 2:00 during the week.

For this crazy position, I would pay $1,000 a month (or $250.00 a week). It's possible that you would never end up really babysitting in any given month, but we'd have to make sure that you get to know my daughter--who is a funny child--and understand her disorder.

If this sounds at all doable, I'd add that I'm looking for someone who

1)Understands the importance of a strict diet (hers) and the need to drink!

    2)Is sharp--she's sharp!

3)Gets that sometimes quiet is fine; she doesn't need to be entertained always

4)Has experience with children; really enjoys them

    5)CPR is good

    6)Reliable transportation is good

    7)References are great.

    Thank you!

I think if I really wanted a particular job, I'd heed the instructions of the employer; in this case, e-mail my letter of interest and a resume.
And if I were a mother looking for a dependable, on-call caretaker for my special-needs child, I don't think I'd choose a person who couldn't take the initiative to e-mail me.
Maybe I'm crazy (if so, I bet angelescrest is just as nuts!). :-)

angelescrestk -- you left out an "e" -- it's always safest to cut and paste addresses :-)
