Tuesday ONLY is Senior Discount Day at WS Thriftway

  1. FYI - anyone 55+ can get the "senior discount" at the Morgan Street Thriftway - BUT ONLY on Tuesdays according to the clerk I talked to. I thought he was kidding, but he said NO - just Tuesdays!

no problem! a couple other good discounts I know of - hope this doesn't count as advertising (if it does TR, feel free to take off this post):

Wine: buy 6 bottles (half case) get 10% off (if they are not already on sale) buy a case (12 bottles) and I think, you get 15% - don't quote me on that - but I do know we offer a discount on a case.

Case Discounts: Buy a case of product receive 10% off (like above, if not already on sale)

Coupons: Several times a year we have coupon books. You can find them at the front entrance.

Special Sales: Keep an eye out for our 2-day and 12 hour sales.

Oh and JoB, don't feel bad about not being carded for the discount. It's kind of a touchy subject because many a cashier have been chewed out for asking "Are you a senior?"

Best thing to do is just ask for the discount, it makes it easier on both you, and the cashier. I know I hate making other women feel old...

    =D

HunterG, the Summer after graduating high school I worked for a place that offered a senior citizen discount. It was always a tricky call to ask someone if they qualified (the discount wasn't obviously advertised anywhere). On one hand, I wanted to help people save money, and if they did qualify and found out after paying that they could have saved money, they'd get mad; on the other hand, I worried about offending someone who wasn't over 65. Tough call, every time.

  11. now there's the rub...some businesses give a discount at 55, some at 60, some at 62, and yet some more at 65...so I guess we do have to speak up, whatever our age..get's confusing - lol...

  12. My wife was recently asked "senior discount?" and replied she was not a "senior" I told her next time that happens, just say yes and take the discount.
