Truck For Transporting Donations Fire Victims?

I just called Paige at Providence Regina House and told her I had furniture I would like to donate to the fire victims but had no way to deliver. She said others had also called saying the same.

Does anyone have a truck & time to do this? And due to weather... a covered truck? :/

I don't have a truck to offer unfortunately. If enough donors with the same dilemma are able to hook up through Providence and coordinate it, perhaps the cost of renting a big van or truck from the U-Haul at 35th & Morgan could be shared? They often have trucks available and the cost is $19.95 plus tax and topping off the tank.

    Just a possibility...

Thanks WSDood... That's a great option... I'm going to see if I can shake down someone in my area with a delivery truck :)

  4. I have stuff to donate, too - please let me know if you come up with a truck - I'd love to be able to share it with you if possible. Would contribute for gas, rental costs, etc if you can come and get my stuff. (chair, shelving, TV, clothing, kitchen stuff)

    Thanks!

I have a truck with a tono (sp?) cover that I can help move stuff with. The cover can only go down if the objects aren't too high (the level of the sides of the truck bed). I'll be home after about 4 today and can help then, after work any day this week minus Tuesday, or this weekend.

That's awesome Holly! I'm going to get back to Paige at PRH and find out exactly how much space they have there for donations and if large items can be dropped off there (furniture, etc.).

One of the items I have is a smaller scale sofa... so too big for your truck bed (in the current weather conditions anyhow!)

Helper Monkey.... that's awesome! I'll keep you in the loop as things take shape!

I'm waiting to hear back from Paige. From the info on the website, looks like they don't actually have a lot of space for 'large furniture pieces' but more like they try to get people paired up directly with those in need. This situation will be different though with folks having lost their homes :(

I'll see if we can get some concrete info and get some organization going...

  9. I have 2 full size trucks and straps, so if the trip isn't to far I can help with that part. Plus lots of man power.

    Hey awesome neighbs -

I have a long divan/lounge chair ready to go to a home that needs it more than I do. It is not heavy - bonus!

    Ping me at wsdood@yahoo.com

I'll be chipping in for gas, btw.

    Thanks everybody!

I didn't hear back from Paige regarding what they can take and how much space they have. I'll try to get in touch with her in the a.m. and post any info I get.

I have a dining room table & 2 chairs and a sofa that two great guys (working construction at Lafayette) helped me save from the rain today.

I'm sure I can come up with a box of dinner wear/cutlery/pans/etc. as well. I don't drive but happy to help organize and pitch in for gas too!

I'm still waiting to hear back from Paige at PRHouse on what kind of space they have for accepting furniture donations (if any?).

Good News though... I mentioned this to my employer at our weekly meeting this morning (I work at Suite Arrangements in the Junction) and he said he'd be happy to help out by renting a truck and driving for the pickup & delivery :)

All we need now are a couple of people to help load/unload, stuff to pick up and somewhere to put it! Once we have that happening... we'll figure out when best to do this!
