Hey all -
Opinions on getting a car (car service, taxi) to the airport? Anyone have any luck with a car service that is reasonably priced? I really prefer to use them, but can't really justify $75/one way!
And if you use a taxi, what service?
Thanks!

We always use yellow cab. Good luck!

If you're near the 560 bus line and able to carry your luggage, the price can't be beat! Otherwise, Shuttle Express is the next cheapest option I've found.

doesn't yellow cab have a lock on Sea-Tac ? Or is that just for transportation originating at the airport?

I believe Yellow Cab won the contract from Stita for all cabs coming from the airport and will bring customers to the airport instead of deadheading back like Stita would do 100% of the time.

Have you considered Shuttle Express? Their shared van service is very reliable and economical, and sometimes you get to share the ride with really interesting people!

There was a thread about this a while ago:
http://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=2623Not sure how much is still current. I always use Yellow Cab, very reliable for early morning runs and about $38-40 with tip from Gatewood area. Have also used Seattle City Car Service, I think they are $45 (+tip) so a little pricier than a cab.

In April we used Crown Black Car service. They were great! And not more than $40, which is about what a cab will run you. Here's the review from Yelp, which is how I originally found them. Oh, and they AREN'T Crown Limo, totally different company.

I think Stita now goes TO and FROM SeaTac- used to think it was crazy that they'd only go FROM SeaTac. we've used and liked them, yellow cab, orange cab. no issues and only about $ 35.
http://www.stitataxi.com/Shuttle express drives me crazy cause they want to pick you up a few hours before your flight so they can drive around town and pick up a bunch of other people.
not fun when you have an early flight.
shuttle express is not cheaper than taxi either unless you are by yourself- I just got a $ 38 quote and 4:30 pick up time for a 7:00 am flight for example- 2 people 2 bags.Posted 2 years ago # -
We have always had good luck using Shuttle Express.

We always use Yello Cab. I don't like having Shuttle Express tell me when they will pick me up; sometimes it is too early for my departure time at the airport. And the last time I compared prices from my digs to the airport, Yellow Cab was less expensive and I got there when I wanted to.

The reason Shuttle Express picks you up so early is so they can guarantee they won't cause you to miss your flight. If they do, they'll pay the cost to book you on the next available flight. Do any of these other services offer that?

Shuttle Express almost caused me to miss an international flight a few years ago. I'll never use them again.
As has been said, any of the cab companies will take you for around $40. Personally I prefer Orange, but I've used Farwest and Yellow in the past as well.

Take the Light Rail. There is a station right in SODO. It's great.

Does anyone know offhand the cost to taxi from the WS Junction to downtown? I hate paying $40 to taxi to the airport, but taking the bus requires an uphill walk pulling a rollerbag - and nobody wants to sit next to Ms. B.O. on the flight. I figure I might be able to cut the cost nearly in half by taxiing downtown, then taking the Link light rail from there. But that depends upon how much that taxi costs.
Last week I returned from the airport by Link/bus which took about 80 minutes all up (walking to the train, waiting a few minutes for the train, the train ride itself, waiting for the bus, bus ride, then walk home). If you have the time you can't beat that for $2.50. However it's just not convenient for the outbound travel because of that sweaty issue.

not a bad idea
bus service to town is pretty good
if you really want to make it easy
take a cab to SODO:)Posted 2 years ago # -
I would say between 15 and 20 depending on traffic and driver.

Hell I would do it for 25.00 i live in white center and self employed so if it is something that I can do for sure I would do it. god 40-75 yikes. I would even put your bags in my van LOL

I usually take the 560 bus--it's about 35 minutes to the airport from Alaska Junction and hard to beat at $2.50. Squareeyes, I think there is a stop closer to you than the Junction that requires less uphill slogging.

If you have access to the bus, it's not only the fastest but the cheapest way to go. Second choice is a taxi. Same price as Shuttle Express, but much faster. Last time I used Shuttle Express (and I do mean the LAST time) they arrived less than 30 minutes before departure time after driving around more than 2 hours pre-dawn. Who's interesting at 4 am?

I have used Bayview many many times. They are incredible professional. Check the price tho, might be too expensive.
