Tough Issues

    Yet another murder in White Center - My thoughts, Seattle City Councli, man-up, put your big pants on, stop passing stupid feel good issues like banning plastic bags, annex white center and look at real issues. I know Burien sorta wants it, Seattle has the tax dollars to maybe deal with it.

    What does annexation have to do with murder? And where did you get the idea that Seattle has lots of tax dollars to spare? Or that throwing money at a problem makes it go away?

    I live in Arbor Heights. We were annexed over 50 years ago, and I can assure you that there has been NO increased flow of tax dollars our way. We barely receive basic maintenance from SDOT and SPU. We still have open water ditches, and approximately one half-block of sidewalk has been installed.

    In regard to the plastic bag ban, the Council has finally done at least one thing I wholeheartedly approve of.

    Crime and violence in Seattle is tamed to a lot of cities smaller than us or same size population. Violence happens everywhere in Seattle. It doesn't matter what class of life you're in. Originally, I was born and raised in Hawai'i, and I also have lived in a bigger city than Seattle. Los Angeles. It is worse over there in Honolulu than in King County. Kalihi or Kuhio Park Terrace? It takes strong communities and not tax dollars to help control the idiots.Maybe we can put a plastic bag over the head of certain politicians that run this city. There's an intelligent answer for you.

    so true..

    on the white center blog one of the posters asks the community to support the business where the shooting occurred.

    the fastest way to get the violence off our streets is to spend time on our streets... to invest in our communities...
