   The holidays can be especially lonely for some people. Especially for those new to Seattle, West Seattle. I know that time is tight for some people this time of year, but how does the idea of a meet-up during the holidays sound? Suggestions? Timing may not be right for everyone, but it just seems like a good idea. Cupcakes and coffee? Drinks somewhere? Anyone interested?

   it's awonderful life is playing at Kenyon on sunday afternoons at 3...
   4,11,18

   i was thinking 11th

   but will go for more than one meetup...

   C&P has beer too, not to mention pastries. And I think they are open until 8PM? Just have to check their online calendar and make sure it is not a music night, or afternoon.

    I think a meet up is a great idea. C&P would be nice. the 11th doesn't work for me, and my life is a little crazy with Samie right now, but I'd definitely try to make a meetup. It would be nice to put some names to some faces. Wren

    Hi JoB just thought I'd check in again to see if we are going to try to schedule a meet up now or should we wait until perhaps between Christmas and New Years? Just a thought. I am pretty busy next week getting ready for a party, but I think a meet up would be great!

    i think we should do a forum meetup before christmas..

    it could be an annual thing :)

    last year we did cupcake royale on a weekend during the day.

    this year maybe the weekend of the 11th?

    not sunday from 3 to 6 because i am going to be indulging in It's a Wonderful Life.

    when we do a ladies of a certain age meet-up would depend on whether the ladies can meet on a weekday..

    Suppose some of us guys show up in drag? How you gonna protect yourselves against that kind of male "infiltration" ?

    Will there be a gender check at the door? For discretion, perhaps you'd better conduct it in the ladies room instead.

    But no, that wouldn't work either, because then you might end up with a guy in the ladies room.

    Most unfortunate that this went from an "open to all" meetup to a single gender meetup. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of a meetup.

    I am a "lady of a certain age" and can't imagine anything more horrifying than a "ladies only" meetup - especially if it involves discussions of things like hot flashes. I'd love to meet some of the manly (or not) men on this forum, like DP, Kevin, redblack (not saying any of you are one or the other!). Men may have their limitations, but they do lend balance to the discourse.

    Last year a group of us put together a cupcake royale holiday meet-up and several of us would like a repeat..
    though perhaps at a new venue.. spreading the activities around West Seattle sites..

    i would love to see noonish on the 11th at Coffee to a Tea with sugar...

    but if you do the organizing you get to pick another time and place..

    i suggest breakfast on Saturday the 10th.. at the Luna Park Cafe... at maybe 9ish?

    if conversation with the ladies doesn't appeal to you.. don't come.

    i will stop to pick up last year's photo ...

    Sun Dec 11 3:00 PM ... "It's a Wonderful Life" at Kenyon Hall. You can buy tickets online at Brown Paper bags. There is a link on the home page..
    also.. if you feel you can't afford the ticket.. they were looking for ushers... also on the home page...

    there's a cute little wine bar just down the street for post play conversation if anyone is interested.

    As i remember how this worked last year...
    the time and place was negotiated and re-negotiated...

    the only one we can't renegotiate is "It's a Wonderful Life" because we have purchased tickets.

    Everything else is open to negotiation...
    or you can simply add another event...

    Is everyone happy yet?

    The month of December is the worst month for any get together of any kind just because of the holidays approaching and people are busy. That's why we always had our employee party after the new years when everything had settled down.
