I want to buy classic black and white tile for my kitchen. Is there any place in WS? Or any place in the city for basic ceramic tile?

  2. Try Florida Tile or Dal Tile in the design center area (6th Ave S and environs) of downtown.

  4. We just discovered the Habitat for Humanity outlet store down on Nevada ..off East Marginal Way. They have a lot of tile that is left over from their house builds and might be worth checking out. We got enough of a great Italian 12x12 tile there to do a new tub surround... they also have tons of other stuff.. worth a look around. Lots and lots of building materials and such...carpeting, rugs, appliances. It's a great place to check.

  5. The last time I was at Earthwise Salvage (now on 4th Ave) they had a box of tile like what you are describing.

  7. Careful with DalTile. I ordered it through Home Depot and not only did they (meaning HD - though DalTile's catelog is very confusing) order the wrong kind - which was sadly installed by our Contractor before I could say STOP! But also the white is very cream and does not really match the other porcelain white toilet and sink. Be careful and check it and don't try to be a penny-pincher like I did! :)

Ditto - we went to DalTile to ask questions and find out what we needed. We bought a sample of each (this also gives you a receipt showing what each costs for reference). Then got most of our DalTile at HD (cheaper). We only had to go back to Dal to get a few specialty pieces. If I recall, the HD price difference was about equal to contractor's discount from Dal and it felt good to have the stuff right in our hands. RainyDay's right though - be very careful of ivory vs. white and HD may not even have both on the shelf to compare. I do know that the Habitat Outlet had an awful lot of ivory Dal field tile the last time I was there :)
