the Anti Trader Joe\'s store

  1. I am NOT trying to get free advertising in, in fact the place I work at, we just don\'t, and haven\'t for over 40 years, so here\'s a great place to know about:
I currently work and have for the past 7 plus years, at a really cool family owned shop (for the last 40 plus years) Pacific food Importers, or Big John\'s PFI.
For all you cheese lovers, we have more than 100 cheeses, that we cut to order. No cheese sitting around in pre-cut wrapped little hunks. we don\'t sell dog food, or produce. just a TON of cheese, more than 20 olives in bulk and 5 diff Fetas. A HUGE bulk section with herbs and spices, rice beans.... We also sell olive oil, vinegar, pasta...
If you guys who are tired or whatever of getting some of that stuff at TJ\' come to PFI. We have so many awesome things!! It\'s SUPER funky, and we do not kiss anyone\'s you know what. We give good customer service but don\'t take crap from stuck up anyones. If you want to have super good food from people who know food and how to cook it, come on down! :0) 1001 6th Ave. South, http://www.bigjohnspfiseattle.com

Crowe - Sounds interesting. Would your store be willing to donate a gift certificate to our fund raiser? Might be a great way to spread the word even further.

Crowe, I\'ve heard good things about Big John\'s, I\'m going to try it. Thanks

  4. Dear Crowe:

Although I am a TJs faithful, I am willing to try local sources of the same thing. I like cheeses and am willing to look to non-TJs--while I love TJs, I prefer home grown enterprises.

I will check Big Johns PFI out, and sing your praises if the value is there. Big Johns PFI is located in an odd place, but I will try and find it. I hate driving to Burien ever since Al\'s film. I work downtown and drive home to West Seattle often.

  5. New Resident: I\'ll ask about a donation. :0)

JayDee, we do have pretty darn good deals, BUT because we are a \"Mom and Pop\", sometimes the big corporations beat us on price, it\'s funny though, we supply A LOT of the high end grocery stores around here., any way, Please come down and check us out, it\'s worth knowing about.

We are hard to find. We are on 6th, down a steep driveway, about 2-3 blocks north of Safeco, and
1 1/2 blocks South of Uwajimaya. any way give a call if you need directions, :0)

Ask for a sample of the Hot Crowe olive mix (or as the Crowe flies olive mix) I made it, and it\'s nummy! :0) , let me know if you are one of West Seattle Blog people. :0)

Some of us at the office make regular \"PFI runs\" as a group and you HAVE to visit whenever you entertain. PFI rocks!

beachdrivegirl, I\'ll be the one with too much food in my arms because I didn\'t think I would need a basket, and the frantic look of \"what more can I fit into my arms\" on my face :)

  15. one of my bestest friends just told me that she goes to PFI all the time...they have a kind of english \"biscuit\" that she can only find there. I\'d go just to smell the smells. But..cheese is one of my favorite foods...and they have Beemster\'s...and olives are one of my daughter\'s faves...how good can it get? Oh...and the salmon...and olive oil...and, well, the chocolate - lol...

  16. PFI is da BOM! Thank you JanS for the reminder: Beemster XO and fresh, crisp Washington Fuji apples----OH! OH! OH!

And here\'s my PFI FYI: lots of extremely cool Unobtainium cookie and biscuit tins that are great for loading up gift baskets, and once you snarf the cookies, these are the best tins for crafts, pens, your wacky button collections, a cookie tin banjo, MORE cookies, your vintage Navy Flake pipe tobacco... they are MOST cool. I [heart] PFI!

Gina- I found PG tips in Safeway or QFC. But you might want to do a price comparison.

Also, bring your own empty container for the olives. I don\'t recall PFI providing them. Think big yogurt containers or even tupperware.
