tervo's - on fauntleroy, next to jones' barbecue - has had the security gates closed and lights out since friday. or maybe they shortened their hours?

i like to swing in there on the way home from time to time. they're a very polite mom-and-pop kind of team, they have a decent beer selection, and they have cane sugar coca cola.

Does anyone else remember when Tervo's was at the big Junction (Alaska junction as opposed to the little Junction/Admiral). Was located about where Harvest Bread Co.is now. Was run by the Tervo family at least dad and his daughters. Was a real Mom and Pop back then.

  3. They had an ownership change and per the liquor-license apps were changing their name to something with Smoke in the name.

Happywalker: What era are you talking about? I know Tervo's was in the same place it is now in the late '70s. I believe Meredith's dime store was in the area where Great Harvest is now.

    Meredith's was around there,maybe a bit south...but Trevo's was next to or a tiny bit south of Morton's. I'm talking the mid/late 60's.
    Those were the daze.

  8. I went to school with Janet(??) Tervo and I remember her working in the family store and it was in the junction still....very skinny little place right next to the long skinny GAP store next door. I remember buying a pair of baby blue cord jeans there in the 9th grade..circa 71-72...
