New here and need to purchase a piece of glass to cover a desk. Any suggestions as to who to call would be appreciated.

breezy,
Welcome to WS! Try White Center Glass http://www.whitecenterglass.com/
Also I have a 20"x40" piece of glass from an old coffee table that you are welcome to if that would work for you.

We have one you can have for free. It is from an old glass dining room table we used to have. Rectangle, maybe 48" by 36". editing to add that if you're interested you can email me at fatkitty at comcast dot net

I agree with the White Center recommendations, but remember I bought a piece of table top glass at Michael's once upon a time to put over top 2 columns. Think they have a handful of sizes.

Wow! Thank you to all for not only the White Center suggestion, but the offers of glass! Don't love the house we're in, but I think the community is something special - thanks everyone!

Quick question - does anyone know how much a piece of cut glass would cost for a dining room table? It would be a regular sized oval dining table - just trying to get a general idea. Thanks!

Cost is going to depend on thickness, size, type of finished edge, etc. It's best to call a place and talk to someone. The owner at White Center Glass was very nice and helpful. I just needed a piece to place inside a tray that my FIL made for me. Was something like 13x20. Recall it being $9 or $10.
