I'm with T-Mobile and considering switching to AT&T. Just wondering what your experiences are like concerning AT&T service (3G) in the Seattle area... Thanks!

I have been with AT&T for18 months have never been happier with reception or customer service! I was a tmobile customer before and paid 250 to cancel my contract.

Oddly enough I just had an experience with AT&T customer service that was surprisingly good! My mom -somehow- got signed up for monthly 'horoscope updates' for $10 a month (argh!) and I didn't notice the charge on last month's bill. So I called customer service this weekend with a very short wait time and the rep refunded the $20, put 'parental control' on my mother's phone (so appropriate) and blocked texting. He also refunded the charges for text messages she received but never read 'cause she can't figure out how... We've been pretty happy with the reception in this area, customer service has been good so I'd recommend them.

I can't compare to tmobile, but previously had verizon and switched to at&t a few years ago and have been happy since. There were a few spots of dropped calls on verizon, and the same on at&t, although different spots.
Never any problem with customer service or products.

Thanks for the responses guys! Looks like AT&T is definitely worth my consideration. Apparently you can try them for a month without commitment so I'm gonna give it a shot. Will post my thoughts when done... Wish me luck! :)

I had Verizon prior to AT&T and Qwest prior to Verizon.
Unfortunately even with Verizon which I liked, I lived in a dead zone and had to walk out to my porch to make a cell phone call.
I finally switched to AT&T and couldn't be happier, plus it supports the iPhone which I have grown to love. Yep I said it, "I love my iPhone" geez I am getting to be such a geek...
Take a look at this site to help you determine what other might have written about their cell reception in the West Seattle area:

I live in Gatewood and suffered through T-Mobile with zero reception for a year! They said they came out and tested it. Lies. I, literally, could not use my phone at my house. Really annoying and their customer service SUCKED. I finally lost it last week, switched to AT&T, and got an iPhone. The phone was the same price as the pice of crap Samsung "wifi" phone T-Mobile was slinging. I can't believe I didn't switch sooner. The reception has been amazing and so had the web access. 3G rules. It's good that you can test it first, though. Good home reception is the bottom line! Good luck!

We have AT&T with the iPhone and it's not optimal here in Upper Fauntleroy. Also seems to be weak around Alki. Our other two phones have Verizon and are golden almost everywhere.

It's a long story but AT&T Mobility screwed my company out of $600. They could have fixed the problem very easily for no cost to them but decided to be a-holes about it. So I canceled our contracts for 4 phones as well as our local and long distance service with them in our satellite office.
I had T-Mobile for a while and was pretty happy. Good customer service and decent coverage.
Sprint gave me a killer deal on a Blackberry though so I switched to them last year. I know a lot of people hate Sprint but so far they've been pretty good.

East side of SW Admiral Way is a "drop-zone" with AT&T. Their customer and technical service are very good.

Yesterday I discovered that my family had gone over on our ATT wireless plan minutes for the past three months (yes, I know, I should have looked at my bills sooner). We have our bills set up for autopay and didn't notice until we had over $300 in over-usage charges. Called ATT customer service and they were amazingly helpful. She changed my plan to up our anytime minutes (adds $20/month to our bill which is a bummer), then only charged me $20 for each month we went over. I was very happy with their response. Plus, when I casually mentioned that my phone isn't holding the charge like it used to, they informed me that my phone is still under warrenty and offered to send me a new battery! ATT wireless made my day!
So take it from me, if one of your children gets a new boyfriend/girlfriend, find out which phone plan they're on and watch your bill closely.

Very cool they worked with you WSmom to resolve this issue - always good to be aware especially with teens in the house as to there phone useage. We've been with AT&T for awhile and occasionally have dropped calls in the Olympic Heights area - definitely not enough of a problem to change plans. Good luck with your choice.

i live near WSHS. i had verizon up until this past saturday. with verizon, i had no service inside my home (so much for the network following you around like in the commercials). saturday, i bought an iPhone and therefore switched to at&t....
i'll say it too...i LOVE my iPhone. it works perfectly inside and the 3G is strong. so far, the only place i have found it to be slow is down on lincoln park way in that little "canyon".

I have been with T-Mobile for about 10 years now and have been very happy with them and their service. When I have a question I call and they take care of me. I have gone through three phones in the last year or so (which has never happened before) and they replaced all of them. Two years ago I had switched my plan and Mom had an emergency and I was having to use my phone alot and when I called because I was almost out of minutes (with a few days to go for the month) they gave me 10 extra minutes free of charge and told me that if I needed more to just call and they would give me more time. I have the 3G phone by Samsung and really love it. I do wish some of the apps made for the AT&T phone were available for the T-Mobile phone. No problems with service.

Thanks for all the additional input! So many interesting stories out there :) Really good to hear that AT&T has been taking such good care of you all. I must admit that I am also an iPhone buff. While I have no complaints about the service (or prices) from T-Mobile, I can no longer take their poor selection of phones/devices. Furthermore, their proprietary 3G network makes it impossible to use a phone from any other source...
Thanks again for the helpful replies!!! :)

Check out the Palm Pre from Sprint Nextel as well.....beats the tar out of the iPhone and I've heard rumors that Sprint Nexte will launch 4g this year!

I've been with T-Mobile for eight years and have no complaints. Granted I used to work for them but I'll continue to be loyal since I've never had any issues. If you're switching b/c of phones, that's fine. But if it's dropped calls, all cell phone companies seem to have limitations. I once visited the T-Mobile switch site and after the engineers explained the technology to me, I'll never complain about a dropped call again.
