I'm moving far away and must leave this 3-5 yr old cat that I recently "adopted" in my neighborhood. VERY sweet personality, calm but will play, good lap kitty, likes outside and inside. Has had shots, flea treatment, ears were clean, labs to rule out leukemia & other viruses done. Smallish, black. Hate to leave her here. Email rosetexster@gmail.com

  2. rosetex: Good karma to you.

    Question: Has kitty been spayed?

Question: Sounds like she may be semi-wild if you adopted her from the neighborhood. Is there a chance that she could make it on her own, just in case you don't find her a home? What's your contingency plan?

Yes, spayed it appears. Vet said it looks like a scar on her belly. She is not the least bit wild. When she came around my home, she meowed a lot--so I enjoyed her meowing--she seemed so sociable. She had a halter with small bells on. She was thin. I put a little sign on her asking "Do I belong to somebody" and with my phone number. After 10 days or so, no one called or gave evidence that she was owned. So, I figure she was left.
Contingency--I've asked buyer of my house if she would want her and she has not replied. I have entertained the notion of taking her to Texas. A few friends from there visited this summer and fell in love with her--no joke. So, those are my thoughts and her history with me.

You can always contact a rescue group who will rehome her such as Friends of the Animals Foundation or Kitty Harbor.

    Must be Global Karming.

I like it. How about: Hey, if you buy this house, I'll even throw in a free cat!

too late, the deal was made on the house. the offer of the cat came too late. I did spend $132.00 on her at the vet--that was my enticement, plus, she's just so darn sweet. I've had cats in the neighborhood before. None invited me to love them, but she did. I was NOT in the market for a cat. (see, I'm still trying to convince someone to take her on this blog! Ha)

  8. The only outdoor cat my family ever had was one that came with a house we bought in L.A. in the late '60s. A dog came with the house too; He was stolen shortly thereafter by someone who had rented the guest house behind the house before we bought it. And the cat, poor thing, got hit by a car one day - survived, but the injury left him unable to lift his tail ever again. I was too young to argue with my mom, aunt, and grandma about the whole thing but all future cats stayed indoors. Including the ones we had to give away when in a situation like the OP here - we left Hawaii to move back to the mainland. I'll spare you the story of how all four were born in my room to the cat whose owners down the block refused to spay her OR to take responsibility ... Anyway, good luck with the home search. We are maxed out at 2. - TR
