I was thinking of participating in this cause this year...does anyone want to form a team or are already on a team? has anyone done it before?

Hi! Good for you for considering this incredible cause/event - if you do it, I don't think you'll regret it.
I have done the event twice, once on a team of 10 and once on a team of 30; the second time I was actually a speaker at the event. Both times, it was an incredible experience. Female bonding at its best, great exercise, much laughter. Wonderful stuff!
I am undecided about whether to do the event again, not because of the event itself but because I'm trying to define myself in non-breast-cancer ways. (I was dx at age 35; I'm 39 now. I'm still wondering how this became my life!)
The commercials for the 3 Day still make me cry. It's a wonderful, wonderful event, and I hope you do it. :-)

I haven't posted here in quite some time, but thought it important to add to this. I am 26 years old and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Sept. 24th. On behalf on myself and other survivors- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN PARTICIPATING! I truly hope you do. With any luck, I will be there this year walking and wearing as much pink as my boobless body can hold. cheers and health to all the ladies. . .

rykrite, san...I just celebrated my 4 yr. survival on Sunday...I'm hesitant to welcome either of you to the club that no one wants to belong to...but...here we are. I, too, want to add my thanks to changingtimes and whoever else walks with her. Because of two hip replacements on either end of my cancer tx, I'm lucky I can walk a few blocks...I'd never make it 20 miles in one day, and I so appreciate those who can. It's an amazing event, and wonderful fundraiser.
I'm older than both of you, and am constantly amazed at the amount of younger women now getting this beast of a disease. Just remember to hold on to that often trite saying...I may have had cancer, but it didn't, and doesn't, and won't have me.
San..you're new at all of this..if you ever want to chat, well, you, too rykrite :), PM me or click through my name/member to get my information from my website.
best to you both :)

changingtimes...if you don't find anyone to walk with, I know that my ex-sister-in-law (here in WS) has done it twice. Not sure if she will again, but I knew she had a fairly well established group...so PM me, and maybe we can hook you up?

I did the walk a few years ago, the year my partner was on chemo. I don't want to discourage anyone from doing the walk, because it is a great fund and awareness raiser. But I would mention that it is a *very* emotional event, and that (at least when I did it) there are not any counselors or support group-type gatherings.
In retrospect, it was probably too much too soon for me - my partner was still in chemo and we didn't really know how things would go. I ended up leaving early after having panic attacks at the campsite the first night. Once the medical staff realized I wasn't having a heart attack they pretty much told me to get out of the medical area. The event staff was somewhat helpful, but looking back I'm surprised that given the emotional nature of the event (lots of crying, etc) there weren't designated "venting areas."
Like I said, I don't want to discourage anyone from walking, but I also want to warn potential walkers that it can be an emotionally difficult weekend.
