   1:30 in the morning and my dog is nervous and excited racing out of the room to check out a strange noise. I jump up to look out the window and hear the oddest sound...squeak squeak squeak squeak oink, squeak squeak squeak squeak oink, over and over coming closer. Suddenly I see them, a gaggle of raccoons stampedeing up the middle of 45th, at least 6 of them (my husband says 12) charging up the street sounding like rat-pigs. They ran up the street and then back down again. I was thinking Mr. Wile E. Coyote might be in the vicinity, but didn't see him this time.

   I had a similar experience several years ago...it was after dark, say 11:30pm and there was a group of l0-12 raccoons running down the middle of 51st SW making strange shrieking noises.. I knew I didn't imagine it, but I have never seen anything like it since! To describe it to anyone else seems so crazy, but I witnessed it as you did.
   They did look like they were running 'from' something, but nothing appeared to be chasing them.

   Ha, I would have liked to see that! There's a mama raccoon with FOUR babies that uses our driveway and backyard as a path to wherever it is she goes during the day. It's always funny to see them parading through the gate.

   WSMom - not sure where you're at on 45th, but there's a group that lives in an empty lot around Glenn/45th/Oregon. They're not shy and make terrifying noises!
