I was wondering if anyone saw a couple of kids who said they were selling cookie dough for West Seattle high school football in the neighborhood of 39th from Andover to Charlestown around 6:35-6:45 pm tonight? I have reason to believe that they stole a package that was delivered to my house. I came home and talked to them in the street and when they came to my front door, I didn't answer, but they made a lot of commotion. I then received my text that my Amazon package had been delivered a few minutes before. I believe the commotion was them stealing it as my neighbor brought me over the empty box that he found in the park by the water tower. I have called the police, but I was wondering if anyone actually bought cookie dough from them or might know who they are. I asked if they lived in the neighborhood, one said they didn't but he did go to West Seattle. The package was behind the screen door so it had to be opened to see it.

They came by our house as well... my husband talked to them & noted a website address on the flyer they had. It appears to be a legitimate fundraising opportunity: http://adrenalinefundraising.com/
When they came through our neighborhood, it was several guys along with their coach. (One of the guys called out, "hey Coach!" and the older man who was with them turned around & came over.)
I don't doubt that your package is gone, and it certainly seems ripe for opportunism, but maybe we're too suspicious of these door-to-door folks sometimes?

It was the timing of the delivery (per the text from Amazon), when they came to the door and the commotion when I didn't answer the door that leads me to think it was them. My house is way back from the street and you would have to come down a long walkway to the door and actually open the screen door (which they did) to see packages where they are put. Plus, the culprits were definitely on foot or the box would not have been found in the park a block from my house. I didn't see any adults at all with them when I originally came across them and talked to them up the street. I believe that it was a crime of opportunity, though I don't know what they would do with the cheese somalier book, but the Wii game and the Pirates of the Carribean blue ray, that's another story.

That's terrible! Magpie, am I correct that this happened to you another time recently? Sounds like there's a jerk in the neighborhood... :(

Actually, I have lived in this house for 20 years and never had a package stolen. We did have our lawnmower stolen, our car prowled, car stolen and once the house broken in to, but this is the first package or piece of mail ever stolen. We went over to the park and looked through it last night in hopes that they had dumped the cheese book that was a birhday present. No such luck. I was hoping someone was out walking their dog and might have seen some kids with a package at the park. Had that car not stalled on the viaduct last night, I would have easily been home when the package was delivered.

I'm always afraid of this kind of thing happening to my deliveries. We live on a secluded street but our front door is very visible from the street. We have a bench by the front door but not all packages will fit under it. I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope the culprits, along with your stuff, are found.

Great news! (No, package thief has not been caught). I could not believe how great Amazon was. They actually overnighted a replacement for all of the items stolen and I received them this afternoon, in time to be able to bestow the birthday gift on my brother tonight. What great customer service!!

Thanks for sharing your happy ending. I often wonder about the outcome of some of the posts started here.

Wow! That is so great of Amazon and good to know. I'm happy for you and I hope the thieves still get theirs... someday.
